LUKE DZIERZEK BIOGRAPHY

Luke Dzierzek is a name that has made a massive impact on electronic music in the past twelve months. With huge basslines, heavy electro stabs and admirers including the likes of Sasha and Zabiela it’s no wonder why. The release of his forward thinking productions have gained many fans the world over and resulted in Dzierzek being recognised as one of the planet’s finest up-and-coming talents.
Luke grew up in Kent and it was here that his interest in music started. Aged just 6 Luke started playing the keyboard and by the time he was 12 he was fluent in playing the electric guitar. Before long he had taught himself how to utilise a keyboard and drums as well as multi tracking his own work. But it was after listening to the likes of Sasha, Oakenfold and Digweed Luke was instantly hooked on electronic music and quickly purchased himself a set of decks.

Many hour spent locked away in his bedroom gave Luke the technique and ability to rock a dancefloor which he repeated in several local pubs and bars. It was here where Dzirezek gained invaluable experience in how to read a crowd. But it wasn’t long before he got bored of playing other people’s music and decided to try his hand at creating his own. He quickly acquired himself a copy of Fruity Loops, a basic music production programme that gave Luke an insight into how to make music electronically. Dzierzek soon upgraded to Reason and Pro-Tools but it wasn’t until he got his hands on Ableton that he really managed to got his teeth stuck in. “The simplicity of the program was what first attracted me to Ableton” says Dzierzek. “Its capabilities to manipulate audio quickly and easily then arrange it effortlessly is awesome.” After originally trying out a demo version Luke soon became hooked on the software and has never looked back.

But it was at Maidstone based club night ClubClass where Luke got his first taste of life in a proper club. By listening to the likes of Digweed, Deep Dish and resident Nic Fanciulli, Luke was able to find his feet musically and before long he was living, eating and sleeping underground house music. Dzierzek’s first productions ‘One Day’ and ‘Echo’, tunes made on his home laptop, were immediately signed as an EP by Silver Planet and it wasn’t long before a mental buzz was built up around these two records. Sasha, James Zabiela, King Unique, Dave Seaman, Jonathan Lisle, Nic Fanciulli, Hernan Cattaneo and Fergie were soon hammering it, whilst the EP stayed in the Buzz chart for three weeks after Pete Tong aired it three times on his Radio 1 Essential Selection Show. Eventually the EP would go onto be Silver Planets biggest record of 2005.

His second release on Silver Planet in October 2005 was called ‘Timeless’, a digital download release that was at number 1 on DJ downloads Top 10 chart for four weeks and went on to be the websites 2nd most downloaded track of 2005. The success of these releases has resulted in an abundance of remix work from the likes of Global Underground, Bedrock, Junior and Cr2, whilst the ‘Wrongens & Randoms EP’ co-produced with Nick Liousias has already received major DJ support and along with ‘Echo’ features on Dave Seaman’s 2006 Renaissance Masters compilation series.

Luke is now looking to spread his wings by causing as much devastation behind the decks as in the studio. Gigs have come in thick and fast with Dzierzek showcasing his awesome sound at ClubClass alongside Nic Fanciulli and James Zabiela, for Bedrock and Silver Planet at Turnmills in London, Empathy in Bristol, at the Amsterdam Dance Music Event and with Eric Prydz at the Ambassada club in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
