Coming out to ibiza for the first time on the 7th July for two weeks with some mates that have been before. Staying at the Arenal and can't wait!

One question is are their alot of looky looky men about? Ive been to Magaluf before and their was quite a few around there and ive heard their pretty nasty pieces of work?

You get a few, especially in Playa D'en Bossa and San Antonio, but to be honest I've never had any trouble off them. They tend to not really bother you unless you 'approach' them and even then they're pretty friendly.

However, the women can be a different story. In San Antonio, you get looky looky women who literally grab people in the street, put a bracelet on them and then demand money for it and get really hostile when you tell them no.

So, the best thing is to just avoid them and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info, the other question is how come they're not arrested because everyone knows their pretty big drug dealers? If a general holidaymaker was caught with possesion thy would be locked up straight away!

they do get arrested.

be careful if 'associating' yourself with them.

topic is banned on spotlight but if you are 'associating' with them be aware of the new CCTV system in the west end, san an port area and calo des moro.

To be fair, they're not all dealers, most of the guys selling sunglasses and watches are just doing that.

Although I don't know why the police haven't intervened to stop the ones who are dealing as it's fairly obvious what goes on.

the other year my friend had a incident with one of the looky looky woman,...she grabbed his hand and b4 he knew wot was going on she allready had some lame wrist band on it,....she demanded some euros......he said no thanks,...but she said euros!! or my friends will have a word (pointing towards more looky looky men)

ur best bet is to be very vidulant and aware of there tricks,....try not to make eye contact

enjoy ur trip tho :)

argh i hate looky looky men an women

they r so annoying, just be blunt with them an say no!

they try to trick u into shaking there hand using "friends from africa " or trying to be friendly an shake your hand NEVER SHAKE THERE HANDS! as they will whip one of there bracelets on u an start going on about curse's etc.........

just be firm an say no, an if they do get a bracelt on u, get them into an arm lock or push there thumb away then they lose grip :P

Just don't make eye contact with them and they should leave you alone.

We made stupidly made the mistake of allowing ourselves to be stopped by a group of fat looky looky women on our first trip to Ibiza on our first day, they grabbed my hair and started putting a stupid braid in it and wouldn't let me go until I handed over all I had in my purse and made my boyfriend give his money over too. They managed to get about £50 out of us.

They must have seen us as coming as we really weren't prepared for something like that. Have definately learnt from that experience.

I was targeted for robbery on the way back to the hotel Sunday night. A black women asked if i wanted some pleasure and felt my bum. When I got back to the hotel there was red marks on the back of my trousers. She was feeling my wallet which was in my back pocket. I didn't have any money on coz had just lost at pool

ohhhh im all scared now to make ANY type of contact, even eye contact with them at all now... :?

looky looky del boy

iv never had any bother with them, i quite enjoy haggling with them for there tat, as i have a child its a never ending demand for flashing necklaces and stuff, i also aquired somthing to help me and the missus relax on a night, again no bother at all with them, although maybe cos we are family they dont bother with the heavy stuff as we are more likely to make a complaint to the police than prehaps a clubber.

its like anything in life, if you look like a victim you become one.

Indeed. Never had a problem with them. Don't worry about them, just give a knowing laugh and say 'no thank you' while striding past them. Also saying 'I'm a worker here' tends to get rid, 'cos they assume you are wise to the tricks/quality of their products. Obviously this won't work on the day you arrive milk-bottle white in the middle of August.

Yes they are a nasty peice of work, one of em ran off with my mates month last year.

Seen him day after with a broken arm, obviously he'd done it to a few others

Once I tried one of their products ( if you catch my drift!! ) and it was sh1t so I told him this and refused to buy it. He told me I had to and I had loads of em starting to come over. Said looky looky swung at me and I managed to push him over and dart into a bar

I then swapped tops with someone and borrowed some shades, and they never recognised me

However the lad we were with who we had met that night! Don't have a clue where he went, he darted off in another direction and then we couldn't find him!! Don't know what happened to him??

so sorry to hear about these looky looky people :(

haven't been to ibiza yet, but just hate hearing of another reason why people should be wary of people they don't know... or even making eye contact with them :( x2

Word of advice- if you can possibly avoid it, don't walk along the front back to your hotel when you've been out clubbing. A few years ago I decided to take the easy route back to my apartment from Judgement Sunday and sauntered by the fountains when one of the looky men, who admittedly didn't look like a regular looky man (he was wearing a combat jacket!) accosted me. I told him that I just wanted to go to bed (I was shredded- it'd been a killer night), but he persisted on trying to sell me sunglasses which I told him I already had, then one of those brass chains, to which I pointed out I don't wear 'gold'. He then pulled out what looked like a cigarette lighter- WRONG!!! It was a flick-knife of some description!!! I reached into my pocket and grabbed all my loose change and threw it as hard as I could into his face and ran faster than I have ever run before, round the back- streets and got to my aprtment safely but uber-paranoid. Ruined my holiday and this year is the first time I'll have been back since it happened 3 years ago.

looky looky men are easy to deal with - just say no thanks , dont make eye contact and walk away - if they grab you ignore them cos they want a reaction - youll be ok if you are a public place so stick to the crowds and if in doubt leg it the way you came to find some ppl.

i never had too much trouble in ibiza but i nearly got stabbed tenarife - just be sensible and you'll be fine

Only incident I had was another one of the 'lucky bracelet' type  young woman and an older woman tied what I can only describe as animal hair round our wrists to 'bind our love' we managed to get away with just giving a few euros as that was all we had and had no others trying to threaten us.

As others say just don't get involved in a conversation with them and you should be fine. In the instances where I have gotten into conversations with them they have always been open to bartering and if they don't seem up for it just walk away and they always shouted us back and agreed to our terms ;)

Also always worth bearing in mind to talk to someone as you would want to be spoken to. Fair enough it sounds as though some are well dodgy, but we were polite, direct and discreet and we got on just fine :)
