Hi,

I'm taking my digital camera to ibiza but only have 512MB SD Card with me. I also wanna make some videos and lots of high res pictures, I was wondering if there's some kind of Kodak Fotostation or other brand that makes it possible to read my SD Card and put my images on a CD-R. And if possible, what does it cost?

Thanks in advance,

i saw ones of the photo machines that takes cards in ibiza town, i think it was on the same road as the bus station

most photo-processing shops now appear to have this facility.

you can't miss them - they're all bright greens or yellows

most memory cards are accepted in the shops.

only problem is the olympus/fuji XD-card.

best bet is either taking an PCMCIA adapter for XD-cards or taking your transfer cable and hooking your camera up in an internet cafe to a win XP machine and then burning to cd-rom

Does anybody know if there's such a thing in playa d'en bossa? And if its possible to hook up my camera to a pc with burner at appartement Jet?

tnx

Oh No!!!! that means you can only take about 700 photo's

sorry didnt mean to sound like i was taking the piss. 512 card is big though will you really fill it?? im only taking 256 with me and i expect that to be fine. i can hold about 340 photos on mine and i use a good resolution.

I have 4 megapix cam. And if I take pics in best quality I can fit like 180 pics on 512mb. I'm going for 2 weeks so I think 180 wont be enough because the benefit of digicam is that you can take many pics of 1 subject and check at home which pic is best.

My camera is 5mp and i can fit 115 photos of the best quality onto a 256 card.

unless you are a photogropher taking photos on the highest quality is not worth it. If you take photos higher quality than your pc monitor at home then you wont get the benefit. you will still only be able to view them at the resolution of your monitor.

agree with gaz regarding resolution, unless your gonna be printing posters from them then theres no advantage, i use the smallest size now (640-800) and its fine for me. plus it saves you having to mess about in photshop reszing them if you are uploading them to the web.

I get 880 on a 256mb card on small, and yes i did manage to fill it and started on the second card, but at least iv got a decent slideshow to watch now

god thats a lot of photos! i thought i was bad taking around 50 or so!!! my work mates think im crazy cus 90% or my pics are clubs and bars or the same people year after year. apparently i could take the same set of photos in each yr and they wouldnt notice the difference

I have to disagree here, I think that if you have the resolution at your disposal then you are best to use it where you feel necessary. I can always tell the difference between the mid-res and high-res pictures when I get home, and if you take anything mid-res and want to enlarge it and frame it you are going to have problems. There have been a few pictures I chose to print and frame when I got home, and not using the highest resolution would have made a significant impact on the quality of the picture. My strongest advice is to purchase a second memory card, you can pick them up quite cheap online. If you live in the UK a great site is http://www.7dayshop.com I got a spare 128Mb memory stick for my sony for next to nothing before I went, and it arrived in a matter of days.

My second tip is fairly obvious, use the LCD and delete the pics you dont want while you are actually there instead of waiting until you get home. It may seem obvious but you did specify that you wanted to keep all of them while you were away, thats great in theory, but not the most practical solution in your situation.

Good luck and happy shooting!

Excellent prices too.. beats my usual supplier and I buy this kind of thing for a living! 8O

But when I checked the others I use.. you can get them from DABS at £83 each for a 1GB SD Card. Quicklinx 3DYBWS. Available from www.dabs.co.uk.

I have a 4m pixel camera as well and you don't really need to take everything at top level. I reduce mine for more 'holiday snap' pics and only do it on full quality if it's something really special. Although the film facility does eat up into your memory card a bit.

Cheers andi, that site is wicked! really good prices think i may order a new memory card now! i thought my CF 128mb at £25 was good, lol

I agree with Andi about the quality. I do want to frame a few pics when i get home. or even print them big format (a4/a3). But I bought spare SD of 512mb. So now I've got 256mb+512mb. That will be enough (I hope ;))

I bought 512mb for €95,- (Thats 64 pound) (Dutch prices ;))
