On Friday night my housemate, his brother and a friend went out to Mint to see DJ Food which they said was good, whilst I stayed in and cleaned my room for the arrival of my friend on the Sat. Shame I couldn't come along.
Still, the weekend was still young. Met Michael at the train station at 1:30pm on Sat, gave him a quick tour of Leeds city centre and then headed to our local with about six mates for a few pints. Headed home around 5pm and then straight back out again to Walkabout for food. Met about 10 more mates there and watched the Wales vs. NZ match. Then went back home at around 8pm and had a power nap till around 11pm. Got some food from a takeaway and then Michael, myself and my housemate James headed in to town.
Went to The Elbow Room to see High Contrast play an absolutely blinding set. That finished at around 2:45am after two "one more tunes". After that, headed to Stinky's Peephouse to see Inland Knights as I wanted to show Michael how cool the venue was, only to find that it finished at 4pm. So then went to Asylum @ Mint and caught the final half-hour of Trentemoller (making only his second UK appearance) absolutely rocking the club with the help of a Kaoss2 pad. Chloe came on next and played a solid set until 6am, although I found her particular brand of tech-house a little grating at times, and wanting in melody.
Got some sleep back at home and awoke early on Sunday afternoon. Went to the pub to meet yet more friends and eat Sunday lunch whilst watching the Chelsea vs. Man Utd match. Went back home and I finished a bit of work whilst Michael read his book (and listened to White Stripes' "Get Behind Me Satan" which Michael hadn't heard yet).
Around 10pm we headed to the Hi-Fi Club for the regular funk/jazz "Sunday Joint" night (free entry). Saw an awesome band called "Protect The Beat" with a particularly proficient drummer. Purchased a copy of their album and intend to play one of their tunes on today's radio show. Returned home and then Michael got the train back to Leicester on Monday morning.
Highly enjoyable, all in all!
