My gorgeous little rabbit, Felix, died during the night! He'd not been well since Monday, and I took him to the vet Monday night and was given anti biotics and food to feed him with via syringe.

Sadly, despite Hollie and I taking turns to wake during the night and her staying off school on Tuesday to help me nurse him, he had to go into the vets on Wednesday as he was so weak.

He rallied a bit last night apparently. The vet kept him in an incubator in the Obs "ward" attached to her house, and managed to get him eating dandelions and skipping about a bit.

I went to see how he was this morning and one look at the vet's face when she came to see me told me all I needed to know.

I think my heart's breaking, and I've got the hardest thing to do in an hours time ... to tell Hollie that Felix isn't coming home. That we wont ever have to chase him round the room as he zooms around putting off the moment we take him to bed and we wont ever feel his little bunny kisses.

I'm welling up!
I'm sure little Felix is feeling dandy and leaping around a field full of daffodils as we speak.
You poor bugger - keep doing lots of this  :D

Aww man, thats a real shame. theres nothing worse than losing a pet, they,re basically a part of the family. I lost my rabbit Bobby Brown (yes, named after the rapper) after his leg got caught in the back door when the front door was opened. I was gutted at the time, and my Mum blamed herself cause she was doing the washing and going in and out of the back door. My brother came in the front door and Slam, much screaming ensued. I always felt worse for my Mum though cause she said she had been playing with him that day and he had been following her about as she was doing the washing and gardening. :(

  I know how you feel babes..... give Hollie a big cuddle tonight.

Why or why do we get pets, fall in love with them and we know they are not going to last as long as we want them to - its so horrible - I'm still in bits from last June when we lost Harley.... :(

I cried when we had to put our 16-year old Labrador to sleep. He allready lost use of his right lung when we got him to the vet's office.

We all know how you feel, it's almost like loosing a family member.

Blummin heck .. I dont think Ive cried so much, ever !!!

Thank you for your kind words. He really was like part of the family as we kept him as a house rabbit, only closing him in the downstairs cloakroom at night time .. other than that, when we were about, he had the run of the whole house and garden.

I keep looking for him.

I'm sorry Saffy...for what it's worth, time does make it better. At times it feels like the pain will never stop...but it does. My condolences...

Can you edit the title of this please, it's a bit too much to see on an Ibiza message board!

Dont be so harsh - saffy was obviously upset when she posted this and probably didnt even think that some people would be so sensitive ......
