Is Ibiza getting better?

Well is it? Its so refreshing reading numerous threads from all you guys on here that have been to this amazing little island on more than just one occasion and so many of you say its been your best time yet! I went for my 5th visit and i feel the same! I have too say albeit just passing through even the westenders seem a lot more pleasent than normal!! I can't wait too go back!! Maybe it was the influx of narcotics or maybe at being at 34 im having a midlife crisis but one thing is for sure Ibiza has me by the short & curly's..... :o

I had a great time this year... and despite it being my 5th year visiting I saw so much new stuff that I want to go explore even more next year... oh ya, and the parties I attended rocked. 8)

I don't think i've ever met so many friendly people this time round! I'm thinking of going solo next year but im a little nervy about it cos' ive never done it before but in a place like that surely you can't fail. Having been back here a couple of weeks everyone just seems uptight and angry all the time... Oh well post holiday blues i guess. When they ask the question "who would you most like too meet" how come no one has said "the man who invented ibiza".............................................. :D 8)

I think it's hard to say which year Ibiza is better than another, every year I've been since 1996 has never been anything but brilliant........but I do think there was a really really good buzz about the place this year :D It's a big stick 2 fingers up to all those whingers who were moaning half way thru the season that Ibiza isn't as good as it was etc etc boring boring boring

I for one cannot wait for June 2006 :D

Lol at Morbyd!!! Your right Barbie and fair play too you for saying so! When your up their people wanna criticise and shoot ya down! Everyone and everything seemed more positive than usual which is a good thing! Don't get me wrong i've loved every moment i've spent in ibiza but this one was special! I'd live them two weeks again in the morning... :D :D :D

I was checking flights for next year in an internet cafe in PDB!!!! How sads that??? F.u.c.k em i don't care....... :D :D :D

I've already started looking at flights
I would be too... but I'm still not sure where I'll be living at that point so it'll probably have to wait until spring.

Completely agree :P

I actually, well don't think it's getting worse, but I don't like the "direction" the island is heading in.

Truth be told, it's hard to ever come away from somewhere doing that many carpets and rugs, and not thinking you've had some spiritual boIIocks time, and that it won't be the same anywhere else in the world.

I just hate the general "style over artistic merit" or, people, what i can see as, enjoying (or thinking they're enjoying), what's cool or fashionable to enjoy.

Or maybe that's me in cynical mode, or wanting to be an inverted mini-rebel.

What I can say, with reasonable factual relevance, is that the music has got worse (for me).

I remember my first day at Space, and the tunes they played during the day, and you simply couldn't imagine that sort of stuff being played there at all anymore.

This year, the only place where i went for "my" music, was Bora Bora.

I'll keep on going, because it is f***ing good, but it's more because of the people I'm with, and the associated jokes and experiences (of which the September visit will stay with me for a long time. Hi, I'm Roger Sanchez...")

That, and 24 hour non-stop partying with the cream of clubbings endurance elite.

Those whingers that say 'It's not as good as it used to be' aren't as good as the whingers that used to say 'It's not as good as it used to be'

For me I've enjoyed it more everytime I've gone. Met so many people this year who were all the same wavelength, and have easliy made at least ten new very good friends 8)

There's just something about the place that excites me far more than anywhere in the world 8)

As for the music, I personally love the tunes this year. 8)

X-amount, think I met you in Space, right?

Yeah, think so?! Where you wearing a vest and a sweat band?

Sorry I didn't get past further than introductions, had a few things on the go at the time!..

Yeah think so, met you on the back bit of the terrace I think?

Dont worry mate, my memory was very hazy after being out for four days straight

I don't think it's so much a case of people saying "it's not as good as it used to be" as people getting tired of doing the same old same old.

I've never had a bad year in Ibiza, sure the early years were the most fresh and exciting but the more recent times are enjoyed maybe a little more because of the new discoveries and being more selective.

Personally, we've given it a miss this year because we feel we've pretty much exhausted everything we've wanted to do.

We will, of course, return (maybe next year?) but there's so many other places we want to go.

Having said all that, we did plan on making Space closing for a long weekend this year but just couldn't sort the flights effectively.

P.S. I'm bored of people suggesting that those who choose to give it a miss as being boring. Maybe we've just got more going on in our lives than one little island in the med.

After an amazing five years of visiting the place, I decided it was time to give Ibiza a 3 year break to make way for other things like travelling etc...

(I nearly caved in about million times though! )

For me 2003 was nowhere near as good as previous years on the island. The atmosphere in Space was sooooooo much flatter etc (and it really was! The sound was sh*t etc).

Since then, loads of politics have arrived on the island, ad agencies have been bought in to give the island a more upmarket image and music styles have significantly changed. All these things are for the best because change is necessary for the island to evolve, grow & remain cutting edge.

Having read all the reviews from this year, I've noticed a lack of whinging and negativity. It's nice to see Ibiza is back on form...it's certainly not the island it used to be but this isn't a bad thing at all.
Thank God we're finally at the end of that cycle.

Me = also looking at flights for June and can't wait!!! After 3 years I'm gagging for a piece!

Ibiza is still my fave destination in the world and I can't see this changing in a hurry.
