how about featuring some locals that work normal jobs rather than this 'lady of leisure' palaver?

Isn't that the whole point? Work is very different in the winter and hell for leather in the summer with barely a moment spare?

nail on the head.

especially after the season and until new years, it's 'wind down' time here on the island. even if you don't believe it (or it doesn't look like that), summer work here is really exhausting and after the season, you just enjoy having a bit of time to see friends and do stuff such as the ones leena mentions. most people are still working a bit, but the engines often properly start again in january/february. lots of people are actually busiest in the run up to the season, which means that in march/april time, we often don't get to enjoy the island too much. so...fair enough we get a bit of downtime in autumn :)
