Ibiza vs Las Vegas

So thought about it last year and was talking to a girl in amnesia last year she said Las Vegas is better but I disagreed they may have a lot of money over there and can bring in huge commercial dj's but will never have the crowds or atmosphere or culture Ibiza has. Fair enough if your into gambling and commercial dance music it's appealing what's your opinion on this subject?

I've been to Vegas a few times and always had a lot of fun, but you really can't compare them. If you do you will be disappointed one way or another

Vegas is much much more better than Ibiza.
Everyone who wants to experience the real party, and I mean the real party, has to go to Vegas.

...I'm off to Vegas directly after Ibiza in a few weeks so I'll find out, but IMO any club with a dress code that requires a collared shirt and shoes and thinks Calvin Harris is a top DJ is all about the posing, not the music.

I am just back from a (very brief) trip to vegas.

Clubs close at 3am, and if you're not dressed correctly, not on someones guestlist (everyone has a list) or don't look the part, you're not coming in. We went to Intrigue at the Wynn - the sound system was good but the music was terrible (unless you like 'trap' intertwined with edm) and the majority of people were only there to be seen.

The casinos are still great fun, as long as that's your thing. You can be there all night and drink for free, provided you're spending enough on the tables. The hotels are great and reasonably priced. There's plenty to do during the day, as long as you're in to getting drunk by the pool or in one of the bars during happy hour. But, aside from a trip out to the grand canyon/hoover dam, there's no 'natural magic' like a simple trip to the beach or a less crowded part of ibiza.

and all that is why Ive never been interested in going.

So i loved Vegas...but not for the Clubs. its a great city, very fun and very strange and surreal to live a complete life of excess for a few days at relatively low prices. but other than some big name DJs playing, it has nothing in commonwith Ibiza other than maybe Ushuaia and the pool parties. As someone else has said, any club that has a dress code and red carpet outside cant be compared to ibiza...

People who says its better go go 'glamourous' venues and big DJs.

What about the beach parties and festivals in Croatia? I havent been but a few people have said they are the 'next ibiza'...

miami, vegas, dubai, puerto banus, bangkok, goa, even london and whatever other $hithole you care to mention are increasingly interchangeable now. like it or not, Ibiza will eventually head that way too - your ocean beaches and ushuaias are a sign of the monster to come.

globalisation, baby - we're all pawns in a bigger game of chess

You couldn't pay me to go to Vegas. Think of the era when Vegas was the place to go... Must be at least 30 years ago and it shows when you look at the hotels there.

Cheesy tourist trap

This thread just highlights the sort of people that now visit Ibiza, as far removed from the orginal vibe as you could possibly get.

I bet they don't have a Looky Looky man that looks like Gus from Eastenders. I bet they dont even have a branch of Wips in Las Vegas either. Sounds shite.

a couple of incorrect items.

Intrigue is the only venue in Vegas that does the doorman/pick-and-choose thing. if you were going for the music there are many other options with better music, presale tix guaranteeing entry and better clubs overall (i.e. XS or Omnia)

Also, the big clubs all close at 5am or later.

its fun but different from Ibiza... i think those comparisons about Vegas being the new Ibiza have died down - they are two different animals and both fun in their own way.

I think a fair comparison. Dubai v Vegas? Thats got the WOW factor, Ibiza hasnt really if your not into the scene

Dubai is a shithole. Its like somebody stepped on Vegas and scrapped it off in the sand...:)
