Ok guys. 2023 question, apologies. Prices are obscene for our usual end of May trip so we are looking at a visit from Saturday 6 May to Tuesday 9 May. What are the chances of high profile events taking place in this window? Circo Loco looks nailed on. I'm just concerned about openings starting earlier than last year with a gap for a week or two (as happened last year) until more regular events start. Cheers.

Best guess at the moment is that it will be comparable what we saw this year. That weekend saw ANTS double-header, Glitterbox opening, ANL pre-season parties from Pacha, O Beach opening, plus week 2 for Defected and Circoloco. Throw in some Pikes and Akasha and there's enough going on for a four day visit in my opinion, but sure it's unlikely to be a full schedule even at the weekend

Be nice if we got the IMS dates confirmed this side of Xmas to shed a bit of light on the likely situation

Dc10 opening was may 2nd so may 1rst ibz2023? if IMS Dalt vila + IMS defected on end april 2023
Price of planes not cheap from Paris 300€ S/R (cheapest are 70€ S/R), Hotel prices not cheap as it used to be, x2 but still OK , not ready to pay more than 700€+ (plane+hotel+car) for 4 days extended opening weekend (2 IMS events + Blue marlin opening + dc10 openin minimum will be ace on an extended weekend )

Planes tix n hotels arent cheaper along april may than this year, hoping planes tix will decrease otherwise i will stick to only long 3weeks closing (eveyting booked n cheap except hotels)

After the monumental return of restriction-free clubbing this summer, we look ahead to summer 2023 with a few question marks hanging over some of Ibiza's most legendary institutions

Here's a few bits to consider:
  • after the success of IMS and opening parties in late April this year, will Ibiza's nightlife economy repeat the same schedule in 2023?
  • will we be any closer to knowing the fate of Privilege and what Matutes has planned for the site?
  • Linked to the above, what happens to RESISTANCE?
  • what happens to Bora Bora under new ownership?
  • how, if at all, will TNL juggle things around after their successful 2022 summer at Ushuaïa and Hï?
  • which promoters are on the off-season merry-go-round? which ones plain get the chop? what new parties come in?
  • what does Pacha Group and new CEO Sanjay Nandi have in store amid speculation new investors are being sought? will El Cielo (ex tipic club) open?
  • does the Reggaeton market grow, retract or stay a similar level?
  • how do DC10 and Cova Santa, amongst others, react to their noise issues?
  • will Danny Whittle's appointment start to bear fruit at Club Chinois?
  • will 528 do more parties? and what of its cabaret and fine-dining model?
  • how will the cost of living crisis impact season 2023?
GO!

Keeping in mind Pacha Ibiza will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, you can expect a few surprises. At the moment they're going through their photo archives to prepare something that will be announced soooooon...

It’s scares me that I clearly remember the 40th in 2013! Solomun will have been at Pacha 10 years come May 2013 too… Wow.

Linked to the above, what happens to RESISTANCE?

I mean if I was to have a wish-list Friday at Amnesia would be perfection for me, but Ultra probably have enough weekend work during the summer.

re: dc10, it looks as though they are tweaking their garden a little…

Will it end up with a sound-proof roof eventually? 😀. And everyone will bore anyone who will listen at 5am that “mate… it was so much better when it was open air back in the noughties”.

I think they can get away without a roof. If they surround the place with tall solid walls, that might do enough. That’s what they did to a huge compound in nyc and you can’t really hear a block away.

What sounds and artists are people hearing/seeing at home who might get an increased billing in Ibiza next summer?

In the UK Ben Hemsley and East End Dubs seem to be doing bigger and bigger venues and Fred Again has moved from being a producer to an increasingly sucessful live act.

While I understand the reasons for playing it safe in 2022 after 2 years shut, theres a lot of Ibiza headliners who are getting on a bit now and be good to see a few new faces high up the lineups.

I often think that whoever is bubbling up domestically doesn’t necessarily transition to becoming established in Ibiza and vice versa.

I do agree with Hemsley. He’s not my sound but he’s getting heavily marketed in the U.K. but I’m not sure if he’s got any profile in Ibiza. That said, you’d have thought he’s made for Ushuaia and that kind of Solardo / Camelphat night. Similarly I always expect Sulta to push on but he never does. East End Dubs seem to have been around forever.

In techno, Lily Palmer is getting heavily marketed in the U.K. and Ibiza and I think amnesia are treating her as their pet project. I think she’s the next Charlotte de Witte. Speaking of which, she must be in line for a weekly residency next.

Space 92 is big in France and plays and makes that trancey techno that is currently en vogue. He hasn’t had any traction in Ibiza yet, but I think he’d be a good fit.

Anjunadeep is incredibly popular and has a big stable of djs and producers coming through. I’m surprised they don’t run their own night in Ibiza as the label seems to be popular all over the western world. Marsh, Olan, Tinlicker, Amy Wiles, and others could all follow Bohmer, Eli and Fur. Sebastian Sellares could be Cattaneo’s heir if he starts to get better marketing.

Wasn’t that more about how the night was promoted? I didn’t go, but I thought her approach was exceptionally arrogant. Amelie rocked up peak season for 5 nights in August, played early and tried to fill two rooms in the middle of the week out of nothing. It didn’t feel like she had been developed on the island or laid the foundations for a successful residency. I also think she doesn’t have the momentum that de Witte has and she has a lot of marketing behind her and done more hard yards than Lens on the island. But we will see.

good feedback, but interesting to see how very different perception of any situation can be.

it was certainly a mistake of them to programme two rooms, but looking back, the very same could be said about coxy's night as well as topping's. all of those events were only busy enough in one room.

apart from that, I really don't see the 'arrogant approach' myself. what she did was pretty normal and her playing early was a reaction when after the first date or two numbers weren't good, so they tried putting her on early to get in punters early.

IMO, it was simply a matter of having a far too strong competition with paradise and with everything else going on at dc10 during the week and in ibiza generally.

and even if charlotte might have more momentum (and to be honest I personally also like her more than ameile), I think she might face the same troubles.

could she run a floor on her own at afterlife or at any other night in hï? yes. could she sucesssfully run her own residency in ibiza? tricky I think.

I hate getting into the “I want x DJ to have a residency”, but what about Adriatique next year? Personally I’m feeling them more that TOU at the moment. A mini residency in a residency I wonder?
