Hi everyone,

I'm planning to produce a monthly printed newsletter/fanzine based on Ibiza life (and nightlife). I've been there four times and i adore the place !

I was hoping to get peoples thoughts on the idea :-

- would it be something of interest
- what sort of content would you like to see

I'd be really grateful for peoples thoughts please

You can reply here, or email me directly at dan_gines@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Can I ask:

where you'll distribute it?
how will you fund it?
do you think you have enough knowledge of the island after 4 trips to pull it off?
do you think printed form is a suitable medium nowadays?
is there any competition?
did you know that's how spotlight started?
have you really thought this through?

come on, give the guy a bit of support (assume its a guy!!)

I think its a good idea, especially if you get some input from those more 'seasoned experts' on this site

newsletter

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

i didn't know that was how spotlight started, i've only recently discovered the site but have found it very interesting.

With regards to your other points, without going into too much detail and boring you all - yep this has been thought through properly ;)

I produce a range of printed newsletters, and i'd like the Ibiza themed one to be my next title. I've found that the printed form of newsletter is growing again, despite the low cost of the email equivalent. Some people like to have a piece of literature in front of them and to take home to read etc. I myself tend to print out interesting information from the internet.

I don't see how l fund the publication to be of any relevance to my original post however ?

I'm not sure if i've mis-understood the tone of your reply, but it felt like you were on the attack. Obviously hope i've misunderstood ;)

comin' at ya > blue is the colour for me pal

I'd be really pleased if anyone else would also help, as i'd be very keen to take this one forward. Cheers.

I think it's relevant whether this will be a genuine FANzine or a commercial venture selling advertising space.

Not on the attack! Just seen lots of similar posts here in the past and most seem to come to nothing. And in my opinion after 4 trips your knowledge of the island isn't likely to be sufficient to do this.

Just my opinion.

Good luck ;)

Hi Target, It's a good idea. if you like it just do it. Do not worry about just being in Ibiza for 4 times. You could ask cooperation of people who lives in IbiZA, thats easy, we are in the age of comunication, internet.
You could even publish things you hear in this forum, make a sort of resume.
Get in touch with restaurants, discos, bars to know what plans, menus, parties the intend to have for next season. You could have a part for opinion.
Your point of view of Ibiza it is important.
You could have a cataloghe of beaches. There is lots of things...
Suerte.

Hi,

I'm a member of a couple of business start-up forums and we seem to be bombarded with spamming emails.

However, this is a genuine attempt to research something which i think will be well received. I'm not saying that the finished article would be free for all, as there would likely be a cover charge of about £1, but i'm not trying to sell anything to anyone here :?

Icoverdale - thanks for the reply and yep, i'm a guy :D - you're right in your post, i'm looking for feedback from those who have some useful comments for me. Ideally, i'm trying to find out if there would be an interest in such a fanzine and what content people would like to see.

Mikkak - great post, muchos gracias :) I'm planning to contact several companies etc (starting with spotlight) with regards to content.

Incidentally, are most of the members here based in Ibiza or the UK (or mixture of both) ?

Adios,

Dan
