Ibiza car driving/scooter

Hi, im planning to rent a car/scooter for a week.
How is the driving on the island? I mean, i have been on many vacations and %70 percent of the other countries i go to i notice that their traffic is crazy and people drive like crazy aswell.

And after a night of partying and many dance tablets, i will be getting like 3-4 hours of sleep. Are there alot of policemen doing traffic controls and seeing if youve taken any drugs? I know its not safe to do, but im planning to party every night and taking a cab every single day is not an option, i just want to explore the island on a scooter or car. I will take a cab to the party and from the party to hotel.

well, there can be and there are police controls every now and then. if you already know you'll be partying hard all the time it's certainly not safe to recommend a scooter or rental car, but up to you. there are buses daytime too to get you to lots of places (beaches, towns).

I have been driving a car as well as a scooter for years here. especially with a scooter be extra careful, the roads often are slippery because of dust and sand
 
Police is everywhere at every time , especially in the high season. From Pacha to San An you will have min. 1 or 2 control points after / near clubs closing. Maybe you will not see them ...Dont try anything ...

Thank you, are there places you can put your scooter near san antonio town/ibiza town if you want to walk through the town from there? And is that safe? (Will obviously put a big lock on the scooter)

Thanks, i won’t be worrying about the controls to/from the club because i definetely won’t be driving then. Pretty common sense that there will be alot of controls then.

the big advantage for scooters is that you always find parking. absolutely no problem.
 
i dont advice scooters, all people i met had a crash with it (quiet scary to see people laying on the road after a crash). & if u get caught driving while on drugs , fine is 500€ and thy let u free as a bird ?
got many alcohol tests along ibz trip (1 time twice in a row ) but , i dont drink booze so im OK

I drive scooter quite often and i always drive very carefully so i don’t think i will get in a crash (lets hope so).

I really like beer so when im drinking ill make sure to use public transport or a taxi! When you’ve been partying last night and jump on the scooter the next day i think they will still be able to detect that you have used drugs in the last 24hours.. I’ll have to be really careful and maybe not use the scooter as much as i’d like to..

drugs are detectable for more than 24hrs actually.

if you wanna be completely safe - as in take no risk in getting caught, take no risk in driving 'in a state' and especially being a risk for others, do not drive. it's as simple as that.

with the buses, discobuses and the odd taxi you can get everywhere and don't need to worry. I'm all for renting a car or a scooter, but not if you know that you're gonna hit it hard at night.

I think you are completely right. Don’t think i will be renting a scooter for my safety and for others. And ofcourse because i don’t want to have a big fine or even worse. Would totally ruin my holiday!

I find it very comfortable to use the bus. I had rent a car and used the bus. Met some cool people there on the way to salinas. Much easier as use a car ...

No, fine is 1000€ for Spanish people, and 2000€ for strangers.
 
Hoe do they prevent that you will escape ? If it happens in the last 2 days of your holiday you will fly home . Have to pay immediately ?
 
u have to pay immediately, they even escort u to ATM machine

im quiet surprise when i had 100€ fine oct19 they ask me to pay right away otherwise they towe the car, could they just give me a fine?
i herd lot of stories about Gueardia civil having abusive behaviors.


2000€ while driving a car when having drugs? price really increase since the story a mate told me 2 years ago.
