Hi

I'm planning to go on holiday this summer with my girlfriend. I have been keen on Ibiza and have been reading this message board.
The issue is my girlfriend is not so keen on going, to put it plainly. I think this might be because of some negative associations from TV she might have and/or it seems to her like everyone goes there.
Although I will be paying for most of the costs I want her to be happy with the destination too.
Can you guys help me out on this?
We cant sell her on the music and clubs as she isnt really into that. (saying that, I wouldnt go to Ibiza solely for the club scene either).
It would be good to hear from people who aren’t so into house/trance, that love the island and from people that have been to other common destinations in Europe but rate Ibiza highly too.

...Thanks...

It's Paradise! Trust me! As long as you don't stay in San An She'll be in Heaven! I'd reccomend Santa Eulalia, it's really quiet & quite up-market but still within serious party distance if you want to slope off to pardee, if you want to break her in, pay a visit to Sundays@Space or Carl Cox's night if you're there when he's playin. Best stear clear of nights like Cream to start with as it may be a bit packed & mental for her. Another one which should convert her Is Judgement Suindays @ Eden, she'd prob enjoy a tiny bit of Cheese & then get totally off her tree (who wouldn't) to Eddie Halliwell!!!! :P

why not take a look at our rural hotels section?

there are some gorgeous places to stay that don't cost an arm and a leg and are far away from all that 'music' malarky your girlie isn't that keen on.

i'd stay at a rural finca myself if i didn't already live here.

Yeah, just get her to watch that "Ibiza's Children" video from www.tranceaddict.com - worked for me, I'm already heading out on my own this summer, but all the people I've showed it to suddenly want to join me!!

Quite a few people don't find the thought of Ibiza appealing, hence why my me and my boyf are going on our own this year and all our friends are going to Tenerife (NO THANKYOU!!)

The first time I went I was weary, but you have to tell your girlfriend she really will be pleasently surprised when she gets there. It really is one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit, even the coast of san antonio is lovely and the sunset is really as nice as what everyone says it is!

Clubs aren't completely in your face all the time either, you can take them or leave them really, its up to you. I would say the reason your girlfriend is reluctant is because of all the bad press, but I definitely wouldn't let this put her off, you could probably stay in most resorts in Ibiza and find them much nicer than many of the other lively ones throughout Spain. Hope you talk her round! :P

:D i would agree with Dawn although I have never been, its my first time with my boyf on my own this year. we got fed up trying to get people to come mostly due to the bad press they were reading. been to tenerife a couple of times not keen on it. we were a bit weary at first as we didn't think many couples went to ibiza mostly groups. but after reading on this forum and talking to people we realised its not like that at all.we are really excited and planning we were want to go, we are both keen on music and clubbing as well which helps. i def think you should book and go for it. even you don't like it you don't have to return do you. :)

Yeh they say Ibiza is for the beautiful people.....but in the real world that can't really happen can it?? I have been trying to get in better shape as well, but its hard! I would say they probably just don't show the bigger girls in be pics because it looks better!!?

I have been to Ibiza once before, about three years ago and I loved it! I am just sooooo excited! :!: ;) :P

;) yeah i think your right doesn't make a great advert for the island if they show all the wrong pictures.

i can't either esp as its nice weather here now gets you in the mood for holiday

I went for the first time last year. I'm not that much into clubbing, I enjoy the odd good night out. We went for a week and didnt set foot in one club the whole time, and had the best holiday ever. So much so we booked for 2 weeks this year after saying we would never go back to the same place twice. Everyone on here will say the same......it's absolutely nothing like it's portrayed on tv. We were halfway through the westend in the daytime before I realised that was were we actually were! (doh lol)
Twist her arm, she'll thank you for it.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. There are obviously many great places to go in Europe.

dawnarmstrong - What makes you choose Ibiza over Tenerife for example?

Sexki11en - Sounds positive! I assume you’ve been to other places before, why was Ibiza better than previous holidays?

Lord Arkan - You should take your girlfriend to Ibiza!!!!

My now husband never liked the idea of going to Ibiza he had whtched ibiza uncovered and thought it was all like the West End, I persuaded him to come to Ibiza with me in Sept of 2002 two years on from my first visit to the White Isle. I can assure you he loved it and was completely shocked at how different it was to what he thought it would be. Its far better than Tenerife, mainlland spain, Greek Islands etc. We stay in Figueretas which is between Ibiza town and Playa Den Bossa, its a fab area and we stay in great apartments called the Sierenis Jabeque its right on the beach front just down the road from the Hed Kandi hotel the Es Vive. Its nice and quiet during the day to chill by the pool or walk down to the ferry to go across to Formentera which is like the carribean pure white sand and crystal clear water. About 4 ish we wander down to Bora Bora for a few chilled beverages and some tunes to get us in the mood, the atmosphere down there is amazing and really gets you in the mood for the night ahead!
We then have a meal at one of the fab and cheap restaurants on the seafront in Figueretas or Ibiza town and then off to the Base Bar for a few drinks, Ibiza town is definatelt the place to be, lots of beautiful bodies and some great shops for us ladies!!!!
Then off to a club Hed Kandi at El Divino, Roger Sanchez at Pacha, Manumission at Priviledge and so on, depends what sort of music your in to.
If you want a chilled night after a heavy one the night before head down to the sunset strip and listen to chilled tunes while the sun sinks into the sea.

Oh God I love Ibiza, roll on September!
Your girlfriend will love it

my ex was never into the club scene and we went to ibiza last year and the year before. WE had the best holidays ever just going ot beach during the day and the sunset bars at night. If you go to pre-club bars you get to hear much the same DJ's as in the clubs and the entertainers will keep you girlfriend happy.

By her a cocktail at Mambo, take her down to the end of the beach and watch the sunset and it will be the most romantic thing you ever done!

There are loads of cool shops in Ibiza town to for shopping. the only thing I didn't like was both years she made me go to the water park! 8O
