Hi guys, It seems that every time I went on a party vacation, I would get super sick. A few months ago, I had it and went to my Doctor and he said "WE" need to get our immune system up before going.

A multi Vitamin, 100mg of Vitamin C and 200 mg of Zinc a few weeks before going and then while there.

He also recommnets you try to get as much sleep possible, at least 8-10 hrs a day while on your trip. Don't know how I'm going to do that???

Hope this helps.....

thanks. i asked this question about ibiza sickness. alot of people get this. i will be taking lots of vitamins and meal replacement shakes cause i cant seem to eat much the day after partying hard. o also dont forget 5htp. and im thinking about trying magnesium.

Last year the flu got me after returning to Germany. But I think I got it because of the air condition in the airplane going to Ibiza. So I´ll wear this time a cardigan on the flight.

And I can recommend "Umckaloabo", this is a herbal product (I don´t know if you can buy it in UK or so), which works very good. I was ill a week ago and now I´m fit as a sneaker, as we say in Germany. It works against bacterial and viral diseases, like sniffles, cough, sore throat and and and. And it has nearly no side effects.....

I´ll take a botlle of it with me....

Out of experience the most effective prevention against the flu is taking your multivitamin + 500 mg of Vitamin C + 500 mg of Zinc.better start at least one week before travel date. Regarding Magnesium i don't think it helps the immunity system however it certainly decreases hangovers and muscle stiffness. I would also recommend 5HTP if you suffer from severe hangovers.

why do people insisit that you can catch a cold/ flu by simply being exposed to cold air or water, its a virus you catch from other people not from spending an hour in a cold place.

I think dehydration plays a part as well.

Think about it, you're sat in the sun and intense heat all day, and then go to a club where you're probably drinking alcohol which seriously dehydrates and possibly other things and not having anywhere near enough water (the ridiculous price of water doesn't help).

Last year, I made a real effort to drink plenty of water and I felt nowhere near as bad as I had done the previous year.

Also, just pace yourself. If you're going for two weeks, try to not go mad in the first week, especially if you're not used to it.

Sure but in the end it's all about your immune system, and extreme conditions can cause extra stress on your immune system and you are more vulnerable to viruses.

Another reason why people catch colds when exposed to cold is because the nose runs and germs and bactera stick to the inside of your nose easier and get into your system much easier than if your nose were dry.

I've never had Ibiza flu in the last 3 years I've been there. I don't even get much sleep but I make sure I eat plenty of fresh fruit and I take cod liver oil as it helps prevent cold & flu.

u dont get the cold on the plane through the air conditioning making u cold methodman, u get it from the ac because its recycled air and u get other peoples germs floating around the cabin.

It's true, but there is a solution!

Ive had it once - first year i was there.

I take my max strengh capsules with me now just in case and try not to breathe so much on the plane

Those doctor people also recommend you leave the drugs alone, but that's not gonna happen is it!

I personally vouch for the Zinc and Vitamin C tablets. I used to get sick every 4 months for a week to two weeks. It was a major drag.

However, after my last bout with cold in May '03, I decided that I would take a tablet of Vitamin C and a tablet of Zinc after dinner every day. To date, I have not been sick. :D

Well, I did get sick when I landed in BCN this year, but that was probably due to the sh*tty air being recycled around, and me stressing myself out on my first day over there. However, I recovered within 2 days.

A lot of people start taking Zinc and Vitamin C when they get sick but by then it is useless. So Nickel your doctor is right on the Zinc and Vitamin C. ;)

its the change in temperature....shocks your body.....so ur body flushes ityself out hence colds etc. i get it whenever i go abroad ruins my week. will stoc up on vitamins and 5htp before i go this time tho. cheers.

The main reason for ibiza-flu is AC. When the change in temperature is big and you keep changing it all the time by going in and out, YOU WILL GET IBIZA-FLU

Of course there is a dozen of reasons to get it even without AC...like mentioned above.

Best way to avoid flu is excercising. If you are fit enough you won´t get it 8)

I excercised about 12 hours (if not more) a day at Bora Bora, Space, DC10, Pacha et all and I still got it on the last day. IMHO best way to avoid it is eating healthy, plenty of sleep, no bad boys nor drink. Never gonna happen in Ibiza for me..........
