Hotel Maritimo/Apartments Playa Sol

Advice needed please!

At the moment we've booked into Hotel Maritimo for our stay in June, a couple of mates have stayed there and say it's really nice, basic but clean etc. Now obviously because this is a hotel, it's basically a room and a bathroom and nothing else, no fridge, no lounge area etc.
I've been checked on expedia and Apartments Playa Sol in PDB are now on there. They're basically the same * rating as Maritimo, but have a kitchenette and front room.

I'm thinking of calling expedia and asking if I can change hotels, I like the thought of having a kitchen/fridge and an extra room.

Is it worth it :?: :roll:
 
That's such a difficult question Beckiboo. I genuinely hope that some party people out there can help you because I'm totally flummoxed.

It's not really that difficult Biff, a matter of opinion really.... would you rather stay in an apartment or a hotel room? I wondered if any of the party people had stayed in either place and could give me some advice :D

(Obviously not 8O )
 
Bec I havent stayed in either but I would opt for the apartment so you have a nice fridge to keep your drinks cool in! ;)
 
Becki, I read on another website (funnilly enough, one for Gay travellers) that the Maritimo is quite basic and suffers from people slamming doors throughout the night.

I've not stayed at the Playa Sol, but I've stayed at the Jabeque over the road so it's really close to Es Vive. They do look quite basic and I'd strongly advise you to ask for a room away from the road as there's a bar which is part of the complex just by the road where loads of Brits would sing football songs at the top of their voice, at all hours. If you get one at the back, I'd imagine it'd be ok. I'd also ask for a top floor as well so it;s even quieter.

Personally, I'd always choose an apartment over a hotel as well, because you get more space and it's good to be able to keep you water and beer cool.
 
And what were you doing on a website for Gay Travellers Clara :?: :roll:

I'll make enquiries about changing hotels, it might prove awkward and more expensive though, as I booked Maritimo in the Expedia January sale, so it was really cheap. We got 8 nights there for £230 or something :!:

If it doesn't work out that much dearer I'll do it, if not then I'm sure the Maritimo will be fine, some of our friends stayed there last year and said it was ok :D

I did a search on Google for a different hotel and that website came up.

It's actually very informative too and says where's full of screaming kids or beer-boys, so as to avoid.

I think Jamie had the choice of Maritimo and Playa Sol last year and everything he read on Playa Sol said it was really basic. Maritimo is fine Bec and we should know we spent enough of our time there to escape from Es Vive :lol:

Yeah I think I'll leave it, I've checked on Expedia and it would cost about another £60 to change hotels, so it's not really worth it is it? That £60 = 100euros to be spent in Space instead :P

Besides your apartment is next door to us to we can always pop in to say Hi :D

Actually it might be better for us not to have a lounge/kitchen area... at least then there's no excuse for reprobates like yourself to come back for an aftershow 8O :twisted: :lol:

I quite like the idea of having just a room with a bed in, perfect for sleeping ;)
