Hotel Es Pla - review

Just returned from here, so this is my mini-review..

It's in San Antonio, near the egg, just past Extasis - so quite handy, but away from all the beer boys and West End mayhem..

I always wondered where the French went on holiday, and now I have my answer, the Hotel Es Pla in San Antonio! I think I must have been the only English speaker there, frustrating when you're travelling alone and want to talk to people by the pool etc! On the plus side, they setup a hilarious outdoor karaoke most evenings - well I found it funny.

The website indicated aircon, but it meant 'aircon in communal areas' as there wasn't any in the room, so I had to buy a fan (why hire when you can buy for the same price?!)..

Still, at least the room had a minifridge as advertised (handy), and was very clean. As with all hotels I've stayed in in Ibiza, the walls are paper thin so you can hear lots of noise, mainly from the cleaners moving beds and furniture for some reason from about 10am as they go around cleaning the rooms! Incredibly loud din! Not good when you've just got in from an allnighter!!

Had satellite TV, but no English channels, just Spanish, French and German - some strange programmes on there, makes for some odd viewing when drunk!

Oh, and they lock the door at night, so you have to press a buzzer to get the security guy to let you in.. I prefer to be able to go in and out at will so didn't like that....

Ok, I've written it now! There's not a single review or comment on the internet about this hotel, so now there is ;-)

ohh do they lock the door now i stayed there last yr, they didnt lokc the door they must have got strict..........lovely hotel but we were only two english speakin ppl in the place wouldnt stay there again tho. The Italians and Germans looked at us as if we were from Mars lol 8O just got stared outa it when we went anywhere in the hotel really annoyin that we couldnt socialise with anyone cause they didnt speak english, id say if we heard an english person in the hotel it would have been heaven lmao but we didnt in the whole two wks .....

did they not let anyone in at night this year

if we knew we'd be the only english speakin people in hotel we wouldnt have booked it, i got hotels mixed up with one across the road lol in brochure

Yup, most nights the door was locked - I suppose they're scared of WestEnders ;-)

Think I'll stump up the extra and stay at the Bahia again next time, now that's a great place..

BAHIA ARE THEY APARTMENTS I NO WHERE THEY ARE BUT WAS ALWAYS WONDERING WHAT THEY WERE LIKE ..... THEY ARE NEAR MARINA PLAYA ARENT THEY? THATS WHERE WE ARE STAYIN THIS YR

Not sure where Marina Playa is, but Bahia is next to the windmill in San An Bay, along the promenade past Bay Bar. I'm guessing it's the one you'll be staying at. Quite swish, lots of marble, a big atrium, aircon everywhere, decent rooms with kitchens and a gorgeous quiet pool area..

Confusingly, there's a place called Sol Bahia near Kanya (stayed there also..)
