Footy last night (aka not self indulgent barca butt-kissing post)

What a game, it was like the Arsenal of recent years, wonderful attacking footy, led by the wingbacks with some lovely interplay between the middlemen(namely Fabregas & Pires) & the front. Juve lost it toward the end. To say that Arsenal are "struggling" this season domestically (by their standards in any case) and that Juve are 8 pts clear in Serie a, on last nights showing you wouldnt know it. and not a dive in sight??

Also I always rated Thuram & Cannavaro as the best in the business but they were given a defending masterclass by Toure....and where was Viera??

Arsenal I salute you!!!!

i think gooners need to take the game in context though. i reckon man for man and when they play at their best, there is no team better in europe (except barcelona). pass and move/footballing wise they are miles ahead of chelsea, man utd, liverpool and rest of europe BUT only when they have a good day, which have been rare this year.

what i'm saying is that we shouldn't be surprised they defeated JUVE in this manner and toure is world class, even when he'd just started - amazing player!

a couple of other asides are that:
- the italian league has been transitional for a couple of years now. Milan are the best team in Serie A but have too many off days. Juve are unspectacular but efficient
- nedved, easily juve's best player, was absent
- juve, like real madrid, have too many players still playing based on reputation - emerson, del piero and thuram to name but three

good luck gooners!!!! :? ;)

I was fading in and out of consciousness by midway through the first half (I'm a bit sick) but I saw at least a couple of Arsenal dives in the first half. The ref wasn't having them though, which is good.

Arsenal were certainly looking back to their old selves. Should make the Premiership even more interesting next year if they can keep their current form (along with Liverpool, Man U).

Juventus looked a bit toothless... with 3 starters missing the next game, I'd say it doesn't look good for them.

Just a good natured pointer, have read many posts on here about how great Barca are lately ( as indeed they are) and have enjoyed the Chelski v Barca banter as well, esp when Chelski went out

But in the wake on English footballs ineptitudes this season in the champs league, I thought it was time to heap som much deserved praise on the Gooners, who have slipped out of the limelight somewhat this year. Ideed if messrs Mourihno, Morbyd et al were watching last night, they would've seen how to beat a crack European team ;)

If you read my post entirely, you wouldve seen I DID mention Arsenal.8)
I was merely talking mainly about the barca game because thats the one I saw.
