How pointless is food shopping?

You put your items in your trolly
you go to pay and take it all out the trolly,
it gets scanned, you put it back in the trolly
you get to your car, take it out the trolly
put it in your car, drive home
take in out of your car, run it up the stairs at the front of your house (well me anyway)
and unload AGAIN, to put it all away!
Then take it out again, as and when!

Surely there's an easier way

OK this is hilarious as well. It really makes no sense.... but we do it all the time hahaha.

Hey mambs come to SD... I'll show you what REAL Mexican food should taste like :D

I am currently reading a book about the ridiculous, actually titled imponderables by the author and its called, "Do Fish Sleep?" and it has all these crazy and funny random questions like, "How does aspirin know where to go?" etc. I love it...the nose and grocery question should be sent to this author so he can find the answer for us.

Yes Mambo, you gotta come to S.CA. The GBP is not as strong as it was a few months ago, but it is still quite strong. As PG said, SD has got some great Mexican restaurants. I second her statement, as I have had Mexican food in Texas as well as CA. Only AZ and NM restaurants left  . Heck, there is a great Paella (I know that's Spanish) spot within walking distance of PG's apartment.

Leese, you have such a point there  but so does Laguna - online shopping is a godsend when ya live on ya own and dont have a car. Wine - delivered to ya door - its great! :D

I have asked the self same question about the painkiller, how does it know where your pain in, and where to go

I may have to invest in that book :D

I can see why online shopping is a godsend for some, but I like to pick my own things out, someone grabbing your shopping list doesn't care which steak to pick you, which veg/fruit is freash or not, they also don't have a system for the way they pack (like I do   ) I am so sad

Online shopping all the way. After working for Tesco for 5 years I can't bear to set foot in a supermarket, even if I pop in for a packet of cigarettes I come over all stressed and end up running out

I like M&S food halls but big horrible supermarkets scare me

I used to be fine with them, but now I've gotten used to comparatively small supermarkets like the ones nearby me hear (I live in the center of town).

When I was back in the States over the holidays, I went to the supermarket and literally got lost for an hour 8O

our big supermarkets are alot less cheaper than the small ones!

I love going food shopping, but when I'm on my own and think about all the work that goes into it it just baffles me why we do it day in day out!

I am definitely with you on that. Not to blow my own trumpet, but I have a pretty good knack of selecting fruits. Just by using two senses (sight and touch), I can pick the really yummy ones.

I am also quite particular about tying a specific knot for my bags so that firstly my groceries do not spill when I am driving like a cabbie, and secondly, I can use the bags as trash bags. I guess I am sad too  .

I read (ages ago) that a new system was coming into supermarkets where you fill your bags inside the trolley and when you're down you just push the trolley through a scanner and it adds it all up automatically from the bar codes and away you go.

Suppose you'd have to weigh all your fruit and veg before it goes in the bad but that wouldn't be such a hardship. I usually buy pre-packed anyhow.

I've also considered online shopping but Ang absolutely loves physical browsing  In fact she could make a day out of it.

 I'm glad I'm not alone. Last night I was fitting everything into my trolly just so, cant stand a messy trolly

I like going Tesco and using the self service checkouts - it's great to scan your items twice as fast as the girl working on the checkout next door, it's like a supermarket victory

I'm super quick now, and there's never a queue as all the pikeys/chav scum don't know how to use them  :D
