Hey all,

Im Dave and Im 23 years old and looking to experience Ibiza for the first time. Ive been trying to do some research as to when the best time is to be there and just got fed up with it all, so thats where all of you friendly peeps come in.

Im pretty much looking to go the last week in June to the first week in July. It will probably be anywhere to as many as 6 or 8 people, but its probably going to be more like 3 or 4 as my friends arent very reliable when it comes to reservations. Is it worth it to get a villa or a timeshare? Or should we do the Apartment or Hotel route? Also is it ultimately worth getting a rental car or is it accessible to ride the bus or get a cab or whatever?

Also the biggest thing im having alittle trouble with is Airfare..I will be flying from the USA, so I dont know what my best bet is as far as that goes..Do I fly into London? Madrid? Barcelona? I read a previous thread about saving myself some $$ by booking one way flights to and from Ibiza, Is that really worth it?

I know Ive asked alot of questions but your help would be greatly appreicated!! I want to make this the most memorable trip in my life thus far, I look forward to meeting and cutting the dancefloor with ALL of you this summer.....

Keep on Dancin...

Dave

I can't really help you with flights but as far as accommodation is concerned, it depends what kind of holiday you want. If you want to have a quiet retreat to get away from the madness, you could go for a private apartment or villa somewhere away from the main resorts of San Antonio and Playa D'en Bossa. This is a good website: http://www.holiday-rentals.com/Spain/Ibiza/r116.htm

If you're more interested in being close to the action, look for apartments or hotels in one of the main resorts (look on the accommodation guide on this site). I stayed at the Jet apartments in Playa D'en Bossa in September, which are right next door to Bora Bora, just down the road from Space and a short cab ride from Ibiza Town (which has great restaurants and bars as well as Pacha and El Divino). Jet was pretty noisy, but cheap and right at the centre of things.

Other people prefer San Antonio if they want to spend a lot of time at Sunset Strip and the clubs there (Eden and err...?). Amnesia and Privelege are situated between the two resorts.

If you decide to get a villa in the middle of nowhere a rental car will be a must, but if you're in one of the main resorts you don't really need one, although it's also definitely worth hiring a car for at least some of the time you're there to explore some of the island's beauty spots.

Concerning flights, its usually cheaper to fly from Madrid or Barcelona to Ibiza than it is from London. Specially since ive heard they've increased the prices from London quite a bit for next year.

As Ferd said, Easyjet have put up their flights a lot this year compared to previous years, we booked ours day they were released and they were £125 this year compared to about £80 at same time last year. People who I know have booked since have been paying about £170. You can get some cheaper flights but they're at rubbish times/days.

Thank you very much for all your advice!! It helps out alot to hear what the so called "veterans" have to say! Do you think as it gets closer to the summer time the prices will come down a bit? That happens alot with the other sites I use to fly (Orbitz, and Expedia)

And what would be a normal amount of spending money to bring along with me? (This not including $$ for clubs as I will be trying to buy tickets to specific nights before I leave)

With charter flights like Easyjet/Thomson/etc the prices won't go down, they'll just go up. Like I said we booked ours and paid £125 return, less than a week later a friend booked his and they'd already gone up £40+. If you know the dates you def want to go I'd book sooner rather than later and then deal with booking accomodation in due course.

Re money, if you do a search you'll find loads of threads about money and what people recommend taking. Ibiza can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. You'll be able to book some club tickets before you go but some you have to purchase over there. Club tickets range from about 35-50 euros (always buy your tickets in advance) cos they often include a free drink which in Pacha/Space can be equivalent of 12 or so euros. Water is the most expensive thing in Ibiza - think 8 euros for a small bottle, glass of wine is about 8 euros and spirits plus mixer 10 euros upwards.

Eating out can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. There's some lovely fancy restaurants where you can expect to pay around 50 euros a head but away from the main resorts you can get a nice meal for a few euros. Also you can save money by buying drinks/food from supermarkets to have before you go out.

Alright so do the flights as my/our 1st priority...

As far as the $$ thing goes, I mean there are nights where im going to want to have a great meal at a good resturant, but other nights, Im really not concerned with my solid food meals, Ill just fill up on the liquids

How much would an average cab ride cost?? Im guessing it cant be much more then NYC cabbies...

Yeah there are some lovely restaurants and you can really dine in style but then on other nights you might just want a quick snack and they cater for all budgets.

Where are you looking at staying?? A taxi ride from PDB to San Antonio (which are on opposite sides of the island will be about 25 euros), a taxi from PDB to Ibiza Town is about 6 euros from memory. You can get buses which are really cheap and quite regular if you're wanting to budget in places. Also if there's a few of you it is worth hiring a car, it works out cheap plus you get to see so much more of the island which isn't neccessarily exploreable on public transport.

Id like to stay somewhere right in the middle of PDB, Ibiza Town, and San Antonio. This way I can at least make an attempt of seeing all the sites..

I have been looking into the rental car as of late, the only thing that is kinda turning me off about it is #1 Finding a spot to park, and #2 I dont want me OR my friends attempting to drive drunk..Seen way to many of my friends try it and wreck there car..Pure stupidity..

Wherever you stay it's only a short taxi/car ride from one resort to another. San Antonio tends to attract a younger crowd altho there are some nice hotels/apartments there. For me there isn't that much San An has to offer for me so we tend to stay over the other side of the island and just go over once or twice during our holiday. PDB is where Space (best club on the island imo) is and Bora Bora (beach bar) so a lot of people are attracted by that. Be warned tho there's not that much else in PDB. Ibiza Town is nice and attracts an older crowd of more nationalities. Or between PDB and Ibiza Town you have Figuretes which is a nice resort, close enough to walk to PDB and Ibiza Town.

In June we are staying in Talamanca and in September in PDB. Other years I've stayed in Ibiza Town, Figuretes, PDB and San Antonio Bay so there's loads of places to choose, half the fun is looking thru holiday websites.

Re cars, parking is fine, I'd never take the car out at night if we were clubbing but in the day it's a godsend for visiting different beaches etc.

I hear ya, I mean the way im looking at it is that its just a room to sleep, shower and eat in when im not at the beach/shopping/clubbing or whatever else we may decide to do.. Space is a MUST for me. Heard tooooo many good things about that place not to have access to it.

I know that this is going to be a awesome trip, Also something Ive been wating 2 years to do. The only reason Im asking so many questions is that Im the type of person that has fun seeing everyone else have fun. That makes it so much sweeter for me.

Thank you for helping me out I aprreicate it so much, I owe you and your friends a cocktail if we are there the same time!! 8)
