FAO Spanish people - New Years Eve Run

Is there some kind of tradition in Spain that on NYE people go for a run 8O When we were in Barcelona for NYE a couple of years ago we got caught up in this mass street race :lol: and we just put it down to those crazy Barcas :lol: ;) But then again in Ibiza on NYE we were just having a quiet walk round the harbour and lo and behold we get caught up in another run 8O

Is it some kind of tradition??!!
 
I think its called the San Silvestre or something. Thats the race in Madrid. Didnt realise it was in every city though :lol:

Tom said I bet Ferd is having a run round Notting Hill before he has his NYE paella :lol: ;)

I joined in the Barcelona run but they looked like they were taking it a bit seriously in Ibiza so I didn't think they'd appreciate me tagging along :oops: :lol:
 
well spotted. all the reports i read gave the same time and distance. i think they may have got the distance wrong - maybe it's 1800 metres? last year the same guy won in a time of around 6 minutes!

6-7 mins for 1800m:?! i fancy my chances for the 07 race;) :lol:.......

alright - 1800metres in 6 respectively 7 minutes is still fast (but possible) and sounds reasonable to me! ;)

Yes, it's called San Silvestre (1st january is St Silvestre's day) and it's in most cities, but the main one is in Madrid. Here in Barcelona the bravest prefer to go for a swimm in the sea, altho this year it's not that brave cos it's all too hot
