Earplugs

Where can I buy some decent earplugs for when I go clubbing?

I want to start protecting my ears, as I find they do hurt sometimes because of the sheer volume of the music in clubs! Ideally I want some flesh-coloured ones so they're not that noticeable.
I've seen some of them but for some reason they always seem to make them in bright luminous colours~!! Talk about making them noticeable 8O

Anyone got any recommendations? :D

You'll know this already Bec but the ones in Boots are the best because they're flesh coloured.
I never go clubbing without them and I see no reason why you'll need professional reuseable ones over the disposable foam ones. ;)

I didnt know Boots done earplugs actually but thanks for letting me know ;)

It'll make a nice change not to get ridiculed for having toilet tissue in my ears

Foam ones cut out the high frequencies much more than the low frequency, which can make the music sound a little bit murky - but only really an issue if you're trying to DJ! Otherwise I think they're fine for clubbing.

My gf is really worried about people seeing hers too.. why? I don't understand the stigma, when all the hardest clubbers I know wear them, and most djs..

Neither do I, Lets face it we hardly look our best at 6am anyway what does it matter if you have yellow stuff in your Ears :)

Just recently I've had to add my list to (all) those that are now having problems with their hearing. Like a real heavy, stinging sensation that appears a few hours or a day after djing.

I'm not sure whether to put it down to my new (ish) headphones, which really give a thump when they get to a reasonable level, and don't really work at low levels that well (Technics, the SLDJ 1210's I think?).

I was thinking of buying another pair for home use as I had before, as I never had any problems with the blue Stanton ones. (apart from they broke).

It's really quite worrying when you start to get it (th stinging). It;s defo one of those "oh, it'll never happen to me" and has actually got me quite worried.

You may have a bit of an ear infection if you've had a flu or something recently - it could mean that pressure is stopping your eardrum react normally and therefore causing some pain.

I can actually mix at home at very low levels with my sony headies, so maybe just try getting used to that? The other option is getting the earplugs that Robbie and I have.

Dan if you click on the link that Russ has posted above, there is a hearing test on there that you can do over the phone and it determines whether your hearing is within the normal band or not. It takes about 5mins, it's an automated service, you just listen to details spoken over the phone then punch in the numbers you hear.
I done it earlier because I sometimes worry about my hearing, with clubbing and everything (luckily mine was normal). If you're worried you should do that. It also gives you advice if your hearing isn't as good as it should be.
