Does anybody?.....

Know anythying about computers?
My computer seems to be infected with a 'generic back door' virus- does anyone know anything i can download to get rid of it (free) or the procedure i go through to get rid of them?
Thank you please.

AVG is a free anti-virus software which has always helped me out, or you could do a system restore to a point before the virus was there

Sounds like the same one we've got. We've spent the last 2 weeks trying to get rid of it. We have been assured that it isn't malicious, but at the moment there is no way to get rid of it. One of the software companies is working on a solution and have told us that they will get back to us when they have developed something. I'll let you know when they get back to us.

If your AV software brings up a name for the virus, it may be worth doing a search on google e.g. "remove ............. "

I've done this a few times and found successful solutions.

Try and download Spybot from website of same name, I find it manages to find far more than adaware. Worth a try.

If its the same problem we've got then unfortunately Spybot etc can locate it but cannot remove it. The little bugger just keeps on reappearing
