After Dave Seaman & Justin Robertson rocked the Annexe for CR4, The fifth instalment in the Cream Reunion series welcomes two former residents and legends back to the hallowed Cream turntables for exclusive classics sets circa 1992-2002.
Nick Warren:
You can tell when Nick Warren's on the decks. The music emanating from the DJ booth is that perfect club mix of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone in melody, drenching them in sound. Warren's impressive career has seen him release the very first “Back to Mineâ€, a staggering eight albums for “Global Undergroundâ€, and one for “Renaissance†and Cream. He is also in control of A&R for record label Hope Recordings, as well as being a member of the highly acclaimed duo Way Out West. Starting as tour DJ with Massive Attack, moving onto a residency at super club Cream and playing at every self-respecting club on the planet, has led him to this natural position as one of the world's most respected DJs.
Paul Bleasdale:
There are many DJ's you can associate with Cream throughout its illustrious history but none more so than Paul Bleasdale. A resident from day one back in 1992 right up until it closed it's doors on a weekly basis ten years later. Described by DJ's and punters alike as one of the greatest warm up DJ's and requested by Paul Oakenfold during his legendary two year residency, but the Cream faithful regard Paul as much more than that. Be it the Annexe, Main Room or Courtyard the mood would always be set for the evening perfectly, bringing everyone up to the boil with his distinct style of mixing and superb musical selection fusing house, prog and techno with consummate ease and reading a crowd like no other. The queues around the block an hour before doors were not just because people knew it was going to be a sell-out and needed to get there early, but because they wanted to be on that dance floor to listen to Paul's latest offerings and hear what the next big tune would be, usually weeks before other guest DJ's gave them a spin. Paul Bleasdale helped define an era in dance music that we can all be grateful for today.
After 8 years in retirement, the lure of the Reunion was too much and this exclusive classics set promises to be an emotional night for all involved.
