Cream Closing Last night

KNow i dont know if im seeing big name dj´s to much and being spoilt buy it but i wasnt as impressed as last year, i thought tiesto was up and down with his style of music and PVD wasnt much better, dont get me wrong it was still a fabulous night i just think it could have been better.

In my opinion not a patch on Armada

Me and my wife got there around 1AM and the place was already (what I would consider) full. It was certainly as full as Judgement Sunday's closing party earlier in the week when they appeared to be doing "1 out - 1 in" on the door. From then it just got worse as they continued packing 'em in.

Tiesto was average, with nothing really happening until about 1/2 hour into his set, then exploded for a couple of minutes before returning to an average mix for a few minutes. Then he seemed to wake up and things got a lot better for a while.

Eventually after being shoved around by everyone trying to squeeze past to get somewhere else with no space, and being that cramped together you could barely manage to shuffle your feet (arms were either up or down - no chance of getting them "moving"), we called it a night.....

It was only 3AM, we had been in Amnesia for roughly 2 hours, we hadn't got on the "dancefloor", it was the last night of the holiday, we were pretty much sober from not being able to get near the bar - and we were leaving a club with a feeling of being ripped-off by a company more interrested in profit than providing entertainment worthy of their ticket prices.

One point that we discussed at length in the Taxi home - Amnesia made a big point of handing out little books at the airport explaining the full history of the club - I wonder what the hippies who played music, experimented in drugs, held art shows and danced the nights away would think about the economic ideals of the people running the club nowadays?

I know times change, but this really pissed me off, especially after great nights at other clubs during the week. It really let the holiday end on a low-note.

Gonna be contriversial for a house lover- but absolutely loved cream closing, was rushing all night long. Perhaps as i am not into trance in a big way when they were dropping born slippy, tim deluxe just wont do etc etc it was right up my street....
When i first got in (about 2.15) i literally could not move as the dancefloor was too packed and i didnt think i was going to be able to handle it with everyone barging past (especially as soon as we got in i heard a group of the chav massiv doing the 'oggie oggie oggie' thing  :x ) but we edged our way through an found a spot up next to a bar and the gents toilets we stood on the top step and could overlook the dncefloor and feel the atmosphere and noone was pushing past, there was a good crowd and plenty of space to throw some shapes. was dancing solidly til 7- loved it.

i loved it to although we went vip up the top for most of the evening as it just gets to packed out, it was busy up there however worse than july, a group of dutch had won a radio competition and were up there loving tiesto. i thought tiesto was up and down too, not really a great fan of his , i love pvd and he played some good tunes including for an angel which i have not heard for so long.

i can understand why people leave early as you cannot move and get near a bar

Thought we'd give Cream a chance this year after being really annoyed with it in 2002.

We all had a great night, wasnt too packed imo, Tiesto was far better than when I last saw him(feb), and the terrace rocked :P

when we got in in was packed but we made or way over to the area near the toilets in the main room and just milled round there all night, there was plenty of space and you could even get on the dancefloor with space all be it at the side and nearly under the dj box, so if people couldnt find any space then they didnt look to hard

we also were at cream closing. went in early, got the warm up by gareth wyn, who played some cool hardhouse stuff. then tiësto arrived, but i have to say it was his poorest set i ever heard :( but fortunately there was paul van dyk who played from 4am till 8am and HE rocked!!! oh yes! all in all it was a great night and we loved it. (by now i've seen tiesto 4 times this year and now i know he can be good once and just average on other occasions...still looking forward to go to tiesto in concert end of october)

full review still to come 8)

Agree. I got there early at 12.45 and the main room was already filling up quickly. I found my spot under the DJ booth and spend about 2 1/2 hours there. It took me ages to work my way though the crowd to get in the terrace but once I was there I had fab time and a fair amount of space to move by the cast iron camel What a great night but do agree that it gets too full.

yea i was in cream's closing this year as well.
the secret in cream's parties @ amnesia is to catch your spot for the first few hours, then when the numbers start to go down u can move around the club. thats what i always do.

i met there some girl who recognized me from pics i've put here, however she said she doesnt have a username here and just read the forums. come forward if u read this message girlie ;)

about the djs -
tiesto was himself as expected with the average trance anthems combined with a few of his creations/remixes (which are also trance anthems nowdays, how bizzar ;) )

pvd was as always better than tiesto and kept the croud going until the late morning hours, with tunes like 'for an angel', 'born sleepy (pvd re-edit)', 'reflekt - need to feel loved' - u can't go wrong.

i just loved when he finished of with his own 'time of our lives' where before that he surprised everyone when playing 'amiel - another f***1ng love song'. top tunes selection by the maestro.

all in all i had one of the best parties of my life. salute! :o

Tiesto is always far more crowd-pleasing when he isn't 2nd on the bill to Paul Van Dyk, for me, Cream this year in August was not as good as the previous year, PVD seems to be playing the same stuff as last year!
