So i kind of agreed to go to Ibiza on Sep 16th with a couple of my boys but have just realised that my passport expires at the end of October

Doh! They don't let you fly if you haven't got 6 months or more left on your passport do they?

I've been using it for work trips to Europe in the last few months but that's on a privately owned aeroplane so they weren't too bothered as long as it was valid still.

So anyone know for sure if they budget airlines let you fly with less than 6 months left (1 month left on it in my case). I don't think they will.

So what's the best option to get a new passport? Send it off and hope or go down the passport office? How long do they make you wait if you go in person?

Hhhhmmm :?

I'd go get one in person if i were you.

When we went it took about 4 hours altogether. Half hour in queue, fill in the forms then went around shops for a bit and returned later to collect.

Jamie had same problem Nath cos his expires soon. Apparently there's lots of different options now on the form to renew your passport so you can pay more but get it turned round much quicker and sent back to you immediately.

The 6 month rule applies to all airlines so you're best getting to post office asap and ok you'll have to pay more but you're guaranteed to get it back in time.

Cool 8) Cheers mate, i'll get onto it on Tuesday :D

Get a passport service to do it for you. It'll cost you some bob but it's worth it. Make sure you get enough pages for visas as well. Don't miss out on going to the White Isle!!

N8 I know how you feel... I'm living in the USA right now and have booked my trip to Ibiza leaving on the 15th Sept.

But i had a major calamity just recently... I've been using my passport as ID for bars and when I was staying at a friend's house, her brother's dog ate my passport - :(

So I've just FEDexed the mangled thing over to the British embassy in Washington DC in order to get a replacement. They say they can replace it in 10 working days, but if I've filled it in correctly or forgotten to sign somewhere or whatever, I may well be fcuked. Will not relax and look forward to the trip until I have the replacement in front of me!

You should be fine. I'm in Moscow and I had my current US passport sent to me in 10 days when I got my current one. I assume a dip pouch from the UK to US would be even faster.
