'Celebrity' Boxing Launch Turns Into Brawl....

Bling versus brawn: Michael Carroll and former TV Gladiator Rhino

A "celebrity" boxing match launch between Lotto winner Michael Carroll and ex-Gladiator Rhino has ended in a full-scale brawl.

Carroll, the former binman who won £9.7million on the lottery and famously blew a fortune on drugs, alcohol and banger racing, began the launch of the fight by posing for photographs with his rival at the Repton boxing club in east London.

But the event quickly descended into chaos after the pair lobbed insults at each other.

Rhino, 34, whose real name is Mark Smith, began to irritate Carroll when he said at the press conference: "I respect him for getting up and doing this for charity but he has no chance of winning. This is way out of his depth."

Carroll responded: "We'll see what happens on the day."

Rhino said: "It's the health and training regime that will prevail and we'll see that on the night."

But sparks flew when Oliver Wilson, the ex-Gladiator's boxing manager, said to Carroll: "It's all very well getting pumped up with your mates and having a pub brawl but you're going to be very lonely in that ring.

"You have got to be off your head. Stay on the farm and trash up your cars. That's the only thing that you're good at."

At that point the launch of the match on June 4 in the York Hall in Bethnal Green, east London, became a huge punch-up.

Rhino was the first to jump out of his seat and start the fight with Carroll's entourage, before furniture was thrown over and security attempted to end the brawl.

Afterwards Carroll, 22, who said he was beginning his training regime, said: "I would have killed him. I felt a couple of digs but not much. On the night I will give as much as I get.

"They were trying to provoke me. Rhino stood up and that was good enough. I'm a fighter on the street but this will be my first time in the ring."

Rhino said: "I'll knock him out on the night on the second round, without a doubt.

"At first I wasn't going to be judgmental because he was doing it for charity, but now that I've met him, I despise him.

"This isn't a game any more. It's just going to be me and him on the night and he's a pub brawler. I can't wait until the match."

There are plans to televise the match, which is taking place for charity.

He epitomises everything I dislike...

lazy, ignorant, wasteful, irresponsible, thuggish, in posession of an offensive fringe, "opening of heart" stories to tabloids about his lottery "hell".

In one fat ugly offensive block of lard
