Bike

I want to buy a bike so I can be all healthy and cycle to work (taking in all the fresh carbon monoxide infested air en route for those extra health benefits!).

Any ideas where I can get a decent one second hand???

I'm worried that if I get a brand spanking new one then someone will nick it. :?

(I suspect this thread may stay empty so please be on hand to rescue me with something more boring to overshadow all the sensibleness Nick!)

Brick Lane, Robder - plenty of "second hand" ones down there and there are some bargains to be had. Just ask around ;)

in oxford you can get really cheap unclaimed bikes from the policestation. They're always nicking them when people put them in places they shouldn't.
Might be the same in london.

I'll try and think of something more interesting and b____-like to say if this thread bombs!

I really need a bike, it's almost a pre-requesite in oxford and I've managed 3 and a half years without one

Robder, I thought the same as you last summer. I thought I would get out and about on a bike, get fit and enjoy some nices rides in the coutryside. So, I went and bought a sooopah doopah bike that would be good on and off road with all mod cons. I hadn't been on a bike in 22 years but thought it would be real easy to pick up I mean so many peeps are on bikes nowadays how hard could it be.

I got up really early one Saturday morning, around 7ish so no-one would see me, got my helmet on and went out for a practice on the bike. I couldn't ride the f*cking thing for love nor money  nor could I steer it round a corner and getting on a road with cars was so dangerous I gave up  This was last June 8O

I'm now waiting for the weather to improve to try again

Actually I'm quite scared too!

Shall we sign up for a refresher on our cycling proficiency test?

(Did you ever do one of those?)

It's ok - we're doing well so far so hold back on the bikes up bottoms bit till we're really strung out! ;)

No I didn't - only the geeks at my school did those , the rest of us were too busy out nicking bikes

Ben has threatened cycling lessons

Oh the shame of it

(I didn't really nick bikes)

Robder, she needs more than a refresher believe me. I got quite scared when she couldn't find the brakes and instead was using her feet like kids do when their BMX's haven't got any brakes.

Totally true. I scuffed all my trainers up trying to stop in the middle of the road to turn right

I'm cracking up at my desk just thinking about it

I can't do it on command!  (if I could would that make me weirder or less weird?)

I'm a scorpio - what does that mean? I don't really pay much attention to star signs, but scorpios are meant to be sexy, so I agree with that one

Scorpios are officially the scariest sign in the zodiac. Passionate to the point of frightening...they have a nasty sting and sometimes direct it inwardly if they don't harness their emotions in the correct way.
I tend to have really intense friendships with them which historically always get me into all sorts of trouble because no one ever knows when to say stop.

Figures really.

oh dear, what am I supposed to do? I'm a bit worried now, how can I save myself????

What kind of bad things would I do? I'm always insulting people accidentally, but I think that's a consequence of me being drunk and not thinking before I speak... and I can be extremely evil when I want and I always know someones insecurities/weaknesses but I don't tend to do that unless I have a sudden desire to hurt someone, but that doesn't happen all that much...

ooh, astrology b_____ session, that would be good. I know nothing about my star sign....

I never believed in it because this boy born 3 days after me at my primary school is/was a complete freak so I hated the idea that I might be anything like him
