best clubs or club night in the north

in manchester i love sankeys and essentials only essentials tough to get into if ur not gay (im not!) feel though hav not explored manchester enough seen as its my home town and feel there my b e few little gems that must b tried and tested. so wats anones best club in manc land or anywhere else in the north, leeds, liverpool etc. 21st comin up feb so where should i go? thinkin caps on please, times tickin! :D x
 
circus in L/pool is deffo worth a visit in the last 3 mounths they have had Carl Cox,Laurent Garnier and Kenny dope plus mamy many more and jeff mills is on in there soon,not to mention YOUSEF owns it and plays every mounth.
 
Although Sheffield is experiencing a poor club scene at the moment, you could try Hustle @ .zero which i think is monthly or every 3-weeks?

I went on boxing day and it was FANTASTIC!!

Not the best venue, but brilliant music and excellent crowd!

In Newcastle we really only have Shindig at Foundation on a Saturday night which I personally would define as decent. We have Promise on a Friday night at Foundation but that is generally hard trance and the age group is usually 20ish - bit too young for me - far too exhuberant! :D

Every now and again a club called World Headquarters will get a good DJ on (but usually mid-week - again not the best choice for me due to work) - saw James Lavelle there a year back....

The Poly and the Uni in Newcastle get Groove Armarda, Moby, Faithless, Leftfield (back in the day) and Chem Brothers as one off dance type gigs.

NICE at The Stage Door is a fluffy gay/house night - good for a laugh at times - other times its no better than mediocre (music wise) but is always rammed from the crowd from the Pink Triangle (Newcastle gay scene) great crowd - really upbeat but not there just for the music. Within the Pink Triangle there is a night club called Powerhouse - sometimes they have a good DJ set on but its really pricey!

We have Sugarshack in Middlesbrough - good club but bizarre mix of people, and too far to travel to on a regular basis.

Tall Trees in Yarm is another option and has a hotel attached to it, not to my liking at all, very charvarish, and last time I was there (a good many years ago) it was full of the steriod boys and beer (male) and Bacardi Breezer (female) monsters......

There are loads of bars with late licenses which have jumped onto the "hire a DJ" bandwagon and charge about £5 for entry but that isnt really my cup of T either.... So, Shindig is it really.......

Best club in the UK.

Sankeys, Bed in Sheffield was good (not that helps now) and on my last club visit to Leeds the Mint Club was a laugh if very young for an old git like me...

Might not go now, was looking at it at the end of Jan... :? Might do Basics for live Mylo instead :D
 
thanks for all the replies. funds r not goin to b major as i plan to save my money for a possible trip yo andora in feb then of course ibiza some time in the summer! considerin this hav decided to stick to my home town for my bday weekend most prob ending up in sankeys. not a bad place to end up in at all! am going out in sheffield (at uni there) earlier in the week prob tues. so anyone have any suggestions of any good weekly nights let me no. and if i haven't already heard of it will look into it. cheers. :)
