I've been but didnt go for any nightlife, sorry i cant be of more help, lol.

I've been in sharm sheikh twice. last time being in April 2001. It's great for diving and snorkling. I stayed for 5 days did lots of diving and went back. Tried to go clubbing, but there was no one single decent night club. The hotest night spot was the " Hard Rock Cafe" 8O
May be things have changed a bit as Pacha has opened an open air club and Sharm seems to attract more Eastern European.
However, Sharm El Sheikh in August is verrrrry hot and the temp are around 40 celcius. Defin. wouldn't recommend it in August

It's not really a clubbing destination.. However, Sinai is one of the most beautiful wildernesses, so make sure you go and see it! Try the night time climb up Mount Sinai and if you can stretch your time to the madness of Cairo and Giza, its worth it. The diving is some of the best in the world and the night dives quite spectacular!

However, night life really consists of a sheesha and coffee.. :D

I think pacha is located in a hotel called “Sanafir” it’s in the center called “Neama Bay”.
Yes it has its unique wilderness but really there’s no place to eat except your hotel (so better take a full board), or do except diving.
The majority of the hotels are 5* and all the rooms are big, clean and with a sea view.
I think that 4 or 5 days should be the maximum stay in Sharam.
Ask for a “special” sheesha  in an area called “Dahab” .

Hmmm nothing to do.. how about 4WD desert drives with local bedouin.. visit to Wadi Rum, Cairo - Giza, Egyptian Museum, St Catherine's monastry, hiking, climbing, sailing, camel treks. The diving is not short of the best in the world, with wreck diving, night dives and reef diving or snorkelling of Hurgadha and Nuweiba.

I love Egypt having travelled all over it and met with some of the most hospitable people I have ever come across. It is a very different culture, but respect it and you'll get a lot back.

True. but many of the things you mentioned are in Cairo except for St. catherine's which is loacted in sharm in the area i mentioned in my last post (dahab). The basic question/inquiry was about Sharm El Sheikh.
For hiking &climbing believe me it's very hot to do them in August. when I was in April temps did not go below 32-33 celcius.

Tis true.. it is indeed very warm in August. When I've been to the Middle East region I aim for at least late October or Spring when the weather is not too warm. It is a shame really that due to the heat of the day it is not possible to explore the desert more enthusiastically.

All of what I have mentioned is available in the Sinai, except obviously the Pyramids and the Museum. The most popular hike, or pilgramage is a 3am hike up Jebel Musa (Mount Sinai) for the sunrise. There are normally quite a few people who do this, and there are guys renting out blankets on top of the summit, as its rather cold up there. You must be careful when doing this though - if you do dive you will have to leave it until at least a day after you dived and also at least a day before you leave as the height difference will give you the bends.

If you are in Sharm for a two week stay I would recommend most definitely going to Cairo for a night or so, just for the experience.

I have always been told that Egypt is not a safe place to travel to... is this untrue? I have always wanted to go and see the pyramids however I've been put off by what people have told me.
