After reading how outrageous drink prices are...I thought of stocking up for the hotel...we're staying @ The Jet Apts....anything close by?

Thanks in advance.

go down the road you'll find a little shop; we bought our vodka redbull also over there a few years ago. You should try the Absinth, it's scarry
;)

Very closely to the Jet`s is a supermarket : One big bottle Cava Euro 9,00 :D and a big bag with ice-cubes Euro 2,00 oder 3,00 ..... I am not exactly sure, it was after 0.00 o`clock ......... and it was the Space-Opening day ..... and they don`t let us inside after 0.00 o´clock  ..... and we must bridge the time gap to go inside oncemore

there is a supermarket in the jet complex but it is pretty pricey, there is a spar just around the corner which is miles cheaper.

Smiley I'm sure it's the distilled version...but then again I could be wrong...

I tried some in Cancun last year....it was god awful...

you sond like you've imbibed this morning?

I Think in spain it was never illegal in some countries like germany it was because of the ingrediens named Thujon, this is like a nerve poison and it were predicated that Thujon makes hallucination in you head but today Thujon were not so present in Absinth like decades ago so no worry it just brings a long a headache:spank:

I'm pretty sure absinthe was outlawed practically everywhere across W. Europe up until the mid-90s when the new wave of Absinthes without wormwood extract (aka thujon??) were introduced. (edit: Mari Mayans website says they've been producing Absinthe since 1858 and mentions no break, so Spain may not have been one of the countries that banned it)

Mari Mayans, the Ibiza company that makes the great hierbas in the fancy bottles, also makes a nice absinthe:

Did they serve it to you properly? Here's how you're supposed to drink it, as taken from the Mari Mayans website:

Sugar is placed on a spoon and suspended over a tall glass
filled with a shot of green Absinthe.
Then ice-cold water is dripped over the sugar
and allowed to fall in beads into the drink.
Each drip turns to a fresh snow-packed white.
The sugar cuts the Absinthe's bitterness,
while the method was attractive in itself,

the drink's change in colour, drip by drip, resembles alchemy.

the way I've seen it done, you're supposed to melt the sugar in the spoon first (usually with a lighter)...

I wasn't served any sugar or anything like that.

Just a neat shot of 80% Absinthe. The blue one I think.
