... people are becoming more conscious of world issues and they want to share in something that is more than just this façade of going out and getting drunk and getting laid. I think a lot of people want to go deeper...

No, not an inch.

That daytime shit isn't gonna get more popular, are these guys on crack? Not buying the increase of food and DJ pairing nights either and also Space closing doesn't mean Ushuaia won't continue with underground nights at at the building. Those EDM DJs cost so much and I feel their popularity is overrated and can't be supported properly on more frequent basis just speaking from a financial standpoint, but I could be wrong.

This article goes out on a limb for many things. It's only good to read to find out where Space's new home will be

1) Pool Party Popularity Increases - First of all, Ushuaia is NOT a pool party (at least to Americans where we have actual pool parties). Destino is barely a pool party - most of the people there in swim trunks are holdovers from a relaxing day at the pool and if you showed up to Rumors in swim trunks, you'd get turned away I'd imagine. Outdoor partying has been on a downturn since, what, earlier in the decade? 2017 looks like the worst year ever for outdoor partying, I think that's pretty obvious.

2) Silent Nights in San An - I guess I question whether Eden and Es Paradis are TRULY trying to compete with PDB super clubs. I differ to you all to answer that more accurately than I'd be able to, but my gut says no.

3) More Conceptual Festival-Style Events - Certainly seems to be the trend - they got that right - but this will only ring true if somehow Matutes can bring together multiple venues for one event, i.e. Ants type set up during the day with a big headliner outdoors, followed by similar acts at Space overnight that are all on the same, overpriced ticket. Would be a logistical nightmare IMO. Otherwise, I don't see it happening elsewhere.

4) Ascension of Spiritual Ibiza - Think they're onto something but entirely correct. I could see changing more small, manageable type parties sprouting up at places that are in the govt's good graces and in a confined environment. Think Rumors at Destino but on a smaller scale. And no doubt that it would become a bit more of a VIP type affair vs. a Woomoon type setup - aka not "a spiritual event."

5) Return of the Promoter - I wouldn't pretend to know how that works in Ibiza, but the argument that the article makes seems to make sense.

6) DJs B2B Chefs?! - Can see it happening I guess, could certainly charge a nice price, but who knows.

7 & 8) No one knows what the changing of the Space guard brings though I highly, highly doubt this means the underground scene is going to get stronger or go away entirely. We just don't know yet.

9) Return of the PR - WRONGGGGGG. Less parties means less true competition, which never benefits the consumer. There will be less deals to be offered/made and less of a need to go out seeking party people to fill your club.

10) Focus on Space - Can't fathom how this isn't #1 - unless your goal was to make me scroll all the way down the page and read mostly pointless drivel in between. In that case, you got me, MixMag. Well done.

"more daytime pool parties?" ehm, nope! not under this goverment

Re: 1 Pool Party popularity will Increase...

There was an undoubted home run at Ibiza Rocks this year and it came in the form of Craig David, whose TS5 pool parties were an unprecedented success for the San Antonio venue. With almost every show being a complete sell out, it wasn't long before the team behind Rocks realised that the daytime slot is where it's at, so don't be surprised to see more late afternoon action from them next year.
