Hip Hop and Drum & Bass was on the menu last night, with MTV's DJ R3wire and MC Varski as starters!
Backed by DJ Docta Cosmic, the South London Hip Hop duo Krept & Konan were first to take to the stage. Since last summer when we saw them opening for Tinie Tempah, Casyo Krept Johnson and Karl Konan Wilson won MTV’s Brand New For 2015 and their popularity has grown tremendously.
With their debut album The Long Way Home ready for release in ten days (featuring big name collaborations like Ed Sheeran), their performace was based on newer material like its first single "Freak Of The Week" but also included older stuff from their mixtapes like "Don't Waste My Time" and "Drugs, Money And Alcohol" during which, like last year, they got the crowd to sit down and then jump up... they left the stage on a high note, that's for sure!
Too short but a good way to start nonetheless.
The London-based Drum & Bass duo Sigma (Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie) already played at We Are Rockstars last year but this time they brought their new live show, featuring for the occasion a drummer (Paul Jones) and three vocalists (Zoe Kypri/Daniel Pearce/MC Justyce), and gave us a good taste of their highly anticipated debut album Life, set to be released later this year.
The level of energy didn't go down even a second until the lights went up, with the singers interacting with the crowd and creating such fantastic atmosphere. The crowd erupted with high-energy songs like "Redemption", "Higher", "Lighters" with Majestic as special guest (who reappeared at the end to spray the audicence with champagne), "Show Me Love" by Robin S or "Broken Promises", saving for the end their new single "Glitterball" and their two number one hits, "Changing" (co-written by Ella Eyre, who we saw last summer opening for Clean Bandit) and "Nobody To Love"... an incredible ending for an incredible show!
Although this was the only chance to see them with the full live show, you can catch them again later in the season as they have more dates in Ibiza (including W.A.R!).
And while the hotel staff was cleaning the mountains of plastic glasses (and white feathers from pillows!) that covered the courtyard floor, we said adios to Ibiza Rocks until next week...
You can get your tickets for Jungle and Shura here.
