This week's line-up was yet another good example of Ibiza Rocks' unrivalled reputation for constantly searching for the most exciting new talent around and both artists, Shura and Jungle, lived up to the expectations!
Shura (Aleksandra Denton) is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer based in London with only a few EP's under her belt and featured on the BBC Sound of 2015 poll.
Joined by a drummer, a bassist/keyboardist and a guitarrist/keyboardist, who add a more organic element to her electronic productions, we were hooked on her Electro Pop sound and angelic voice on songs like "Indecision", "Just Once", "2Shy (recently covered by Mumford & Sons), "Touch" or the hynotic finale with "White Light", which will be part of her eagerly awaited full-length debut album (due for released later this year). The cover of Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy" was a nice and unexpected surprise.
Definitely a new artist to check out!
Jungle released their self-titled first album one year ago and got very positive reviews from music critics. The eclectic London duo was founded by Tom McFarland and Josh Lloyd-Watson (known simply as T and J as they choose to put the emphasis on the music and not on the pairs' own identity), who expand to a seven-piece band to showcase their Modern Soul live. After storming Glastonbury last weekend, a lot of people were waiting for this one with a great expectation.
On album they have a very unique and groovy sound that sparks your imagination with every song as a visual representantion of a specific place, which they translate perfectly to the live stage and enhance with all kinds of lighting effects and with their passionate way of performing. They basically played their excellent debut album, with no new or rare songs being played, including "Platoon", "Julia", "The Heat", the hit single "Busy Earnin" (the climactic moment of the night) and "Time" among others and everyone danced their socks off, as you do with such a joyful music and the feel-good atmosphere they create.
Jungle live exceeded all my expectations... well impressed!
Next week Dizzee Rascal returns to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel... tickets available here!
