Impact Abandoned Club Robinson on life in Cala Vadella

Dear all,

I am planning a trip to Ibiza and read some stories about how squatters are still occupying the former club robinson complex (Hotel Okupa)in Cala Vadella. Now when I see pictures (dated 2009) online it looks almost like a set from Mad Max :). Although the pictures are from 2009 some articles I read are from 2013. So I was wondering if it is nice to visit with the family or do the occupants of the complex have a negative influence on the surrounding area (car wrecks, etc etc)

Many thanks for your feedback

This is probably not going to be much use,but anyway....not been down to CV for a couple of years but I think the squatters were already there at that time. No sign of car wrecks etc. The road into CV is quite well to do and the beach area is well looked after. The biggest blight I noticed was the way the crumbling cliffs were being held up with ugly steel? plates...maybe it's been ' landscaped' since then

Hi Simon,

I saw the steel plates indeed and must say that the pictures (with the car wrecks etc) I saw online where dated 2009 so the situation might have indeed changed since then. Just want to avoid taking any risk for my yearly holiday:) So any more suggestions are more then welcome

May thanks

i was there end of last year.
wondering if it is nice to visit with the family ..
haha, r u serious ?? it wasn´t "nice" and it is not nice right now and you can´t enter anyway anymore !
it´s still fenced off and there´s still some security-bloke in a container (at least @ day).
so you can´t enter - just drive around the area by car. obviously the little houses around are still occupied with some car wrecks around, but by far not as rotten and creepy than 2 years ago.

no - absolutely nothing has happened there in the meantime. one of the most disgusting sights in ibiza !

Hi IceBear,

Thanks for the info. Just for the record I was not really planning on visiting the complex. But since it seems like CV is quite a small community I recon that such a complex will probably attract people that are not sharing the same interests as me and my family do ;-)

I am surprised to that they are still selling apartments there (40.00O EUR or more)

Hi IB

Thanks for the link I indeed saw you post before I placed mine. Specially since date on the pictures (from the link) is 2009. When viewing the area using google streatview it looks slightly better. But I do not know when they were captured :)

Cala Vadella is a lovely resert with a stunning beach imho. There are some lovely places on the seafront for a simple beer or full meal or afternoon tea and cakes Some friends stayed in CV last September, we went over and stayed at their aprtment for an evening after a lovely meal and beers on the seafront. They certainly never mentioned bumbing into any 'dodgy types' during their week at the rest... I saw hide nor hair of any neer do well types either I would certainly never dissuade friends from staying in Cala Vadella.

in 2 separate days I've given 2 hitchhikers a lift in Ibiza and both were going to Cala Vadella... one to a bar at the front and one to her squat in a villa up the hill...
