Pete Doherty To Kick Off Summer 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, have we got massive news for you?!

To celebrate the beginning of the 2010 season Ibiza Rocks is taking it right back to where this whole crazy adventure began.

That's right folks - to kick things off this year we're welcoming back Pete Doherty for an intimate, sunset-tinged, acoustic set at Ibiza Rocks' spiritual home: the Ibiza Rocks Bar slap bang on the beach in San Antonio.

This flat-out unmissable pre-season party takes place a week before the official start of Ibiza Rocks 2010 on Tuesday 1st June.

Pete's a longtime friend and fan of Ibiza; those of you with good memories will remember that it was he who first took Ibiza Rocks out of the back room of Manumission and into the open air with a legendary - not to mention chaotic - show at the beach bar way back in the early days of 2005 ...and Ibiza Rocks has never looked back!

We may have made the permanent move to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008 - but we're gonna break the rules for this one and let Pete push the boundaries yet again.

The beach bar has been completely refurbished for the 2010 season and we simply couldn't think of a better way of christening it than by hosting one of the finest songwriters of our generation.

A once-in-a-lifetime show is in the offing - so make sure you're there.

PETE DOHERTY TAKES IBIZA ROCKS BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN…THE BAR!

For one night only, Pete Doherty will take centre stage in the Ibiza Rocks Bar on the beach in San Antonio for an intimate, sunset, acoustic set on Tuesday 1 June, to celebrate the start of another storming Ibiza Rocks summer season.

This one-off gig will take place the week before the official start of Ibiza Rocks 2010 which takes place at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, with a stellar line up including Biffy Clyro, The Prodigy, Ian Brown, Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine all set to wow the crowds with standout headline slots.

Pete Doherty was the man that helped make the Ibiza Rocks name when he brought his own unique blend of brilliance, chaos and controversy to the White Isle for a solo gig in 2005. It seems only fitting that he return to Ibiza Rocks’ original beachside bar location. In 2006 he surprised everyone by making his own way to Ibiza amidst a media storm and sticking to his word as he took to the stage, stunned the crowd with a superb set, smashing up the guitar and half the bar in the process. It’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll.

It was Pete Doherty that took Ibiza Rocks outdoors, from the back room of Manumission to the open-air stage of the newly refurbished Ibiza Rocks Bar on the beach…and Ibiza Rocks has never looked back. As seminal moment in music ensued and an array of groundbreaking gigs in the Bar followed from Arctic Monkeys, The Enemy and Kasabian to name a few.

The Ibiza Rocks gigs may have made a permanent move to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008, but if there’s one man that can break the rules and push the boundaries yet again, it’s Mister Pete Doherty. Having recently reformed The Libertines for a highly anticipated performance at Reading and Leeds Festival, this Ibiza Rocks solo set will provide fans with a chance to see the original gentle indie giant, stripped down and sincere. It’s going to be emotional.

first thing to call my attention when i entered were all changes in the venue (scenario backwards to the street,
neon pink dancefloor, new stairs to access the vip, etc)..... all of them for good as it looks cooler than ever.
after a warm-up set by tom grainger (the first ever dj to play at the new IR bar ! ! ) it was time for the
one and only colin peters..... great stuff as usual. then, with a bit of delay (he missed his flight),
the waited return of mr doherty to ibiza..... great set list with everybody's faves, old and new.
a perfect way to kickstart the season. IR opening next week with biffy clyro..... can't wait ! !​
