Ibiza Rocks' 9th season is on and it looks promising as usual, highlights for me being the return of Madness, Kaiser Chiefs and The Kooks.

The brand continues expanding and this year not only they're busy with the concerts on wednesdays and We Are Rockstars on fridays but also with Ibiza Rocks House on mondays at Pacha. We know for certain no matter what new project they pull out of the hat, they always deliver on so many levels and the new night at the club of the cherries wasn't going to be different. Too early to say this but it's a definite candidate for best new party of the summer.

Breton are a multimedia artist collective from south London. With two full-length releases, 2012's Other People's Problems and this year's War Room Stories, the enigmatic band has created an experimental but super catchy Indie/Dance blend that calls to mind the likes of Foals or Friendly Fires although their talent shines on its own.

When the five-piece kicked off with "Governing Correctly" it was clear that we were in for a ride. The band continued with gems like "Edward The Confessor", "Envy", "Legs & Arms", my favourite "National Grid", "Jostle" and "15 Minutes", leaving us in awe because of the epicness that was unfolding in front of our eyes. Curious how they omitted a fan-favourite like "Got Well Soon" and opted for less known material like a b-side and one from an EP.

The fact that many people that had never heard them before were trying to find out more about them after the gig proves people were left with a positive impression.

Haim debuted in Spain last friday at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona and then flew to the Balearic Islands for their dates in Mallorca and Ibiza. The three Californian sisters are not only the hottest new band in the world right now but also one of the bands of 2014. Last year's debut album Days Are Gone scaled the charts worldwide (number one in the UK) and a long list of festival appearances and all the award nominations imaginable followed, so it was great to see them in the intimate setting of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

The multi-instrumentalist members Danielle (vocals, lead guitar and percussion), Alana (vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion and keyboards) and Este (vocals, bass, percussion and funny facial expressions!) were backed by a drummer and a keyboardist to deliver their radio-friendly hits, which live are more Rock-sounding than on the album. They played the whole album minus one song (favourite moment: the terrific "The Wire") and spiced things up with the classic "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac (that many bands have covered in the past, including Joe Jackson, Tom Petty or The Black Crowes to name just a few... now that's a tune and a half!), which was sung by Alana, and with "XO" by Beyonce (do you know the feeling when you don't like an artist at all but then you hear one of their songs covered by someone else and you actually like it? well, that!), with Danielle and the drummer swapping roles. To top it all, the last song of the evening ("Let Me Go") led to a pretty crazy percussion jam.

80's Pop charm and Rock cockiness, all in one... simply irresistible!

Like the previous years, the after parties took place at Ibiza Rocks Bar, Es Paradis (free for ticket holders before 1.30am) and Ibiza Rocks House (guestlist only), now hosted by the promoter Rock Nights who last night had behind the decks the ex-football player Gaizka Mendieta among others...
