First time Ibiza: car or scooter

Hello,

My first time in Ibizza.

Correct me if I m wrong, but Ibizza is not a big island.
Do I need a car to move arround or can I do this by scooter?

scooter will do if it's just you or max you +1. just drive carefully. if it's a bigger group take a car - safer and more room to bring beach stuff etc.

sure you can go around on a scooter ... but chances are high that you fly back home in a bodybag

too many crazy people in cars, slippery streets etcpp

that's why I said drive carefully ;)

I also vote for a car personally (even though I scooter a lot myself), but I understand a car is more expensive. one big plus (and one of the main reasons I often use the scooter in summer) is that, no matter where you go, with a scooter you ALWAYS find a parking space right away. parking has become a proper nightmare with cars during the season.

way too dangerous to drive scooter in ibiza. too many idiot car drivers around. every time i drive to ses salines. there is a least 1 car ALWAYS swerving, sometimes over the scooter/walker lane.

i've been to ibiza 12 times, had a hire car every year in last 7 years. i would never drive a scooter in ibiza. EVER

I always drive scooters in Ibiza and I love it. It is a great way to discover the Island and to see many hidden places. I try to avoid the main roads and go for the beautiful coastal roads.
I didn't have one dangerous situation so far, but I avoid the peak season and go for the openings and closing when the traffic is much less than in July / August.

My veiw on driveing or rideing in ibiza, is drive like a local..On the dual carriage when its safe they floor it, round the small streets in san an, playa d en bossa say even ibiza town they snails pace it.Theres to many hazzards, people cross the roads all over with out looking, just slow it down from driveing at home,by a lot.

unreal ... within 6 days i already watched 5 accidents with motorbikes and scooter. terrible accident today @ road near km5 when some yellow scooter crashed in the back of a car which had stopped to turn.left !

in case you're not italian - because they know how to drive (at least most of them) - avoid at all costs especially this year with crazy traffic already in may .

We got a scooter first week of May. My boyfriend drove and I sat on the back. It was the first time I'd ever been on one.

Pros - easy to park anywhere and you don't have to pay to park them. Very cheap petrol. Can access some places cars can't. The North at this time of year was very quiet so we didn't see many cars, also not too busy driving to the beaches along the south west coast.

Cons - helmet hair. It's absolutely freeziing and when it rained I couldn't tell if I was shaking with fear or cold. You have to (or at least should) wear shoes and trousers, I had to keep changing every stop we made which was annoying. Over towards Ibiza town was very busy (Medieval festival had started) driving on the motorway is not cool and not something I would like to experience again!

I would use a scooter again pre-season but only for driving to the North, and the south west beaches.

Cost - just under 100 euros for the week. Petrol was less than 20 euros and we covered a LOT of miles.

everyone drives too fast in Spain - it's actually ridiculous on the AP7 to the Costa Brava

and people use their beamers a lot more - even when they're tailgating you. there's no need!
