It's time to unveil our next little development at Hostal Salinas, with the addition of what has been, til now, a rather large missing link in our chain. A POOL. Yup, we've got a pool. And if last summer's temperatures are anything to go by, we're all gonna need it.
So, we've chosen this Wednesday Mayday to celebrate the latest addition to our Hostal Salinas surroundings along with our friends Miguel and Fernando, both of whom are birthday boys and of course, You Are Invited, dear reader.
On hand broadcasting the aquatic antics, the illustrious cast of RADIO IBIZA SONICA, live from 2pm throughout the day on 95.2fm locally or online www.ibizasonica.com.
LO CURA LOUNGE was born last year in order to bring our two concepts just that little bit closer. Tucked safely under one wing, Ibiza's small but mighty LO CURA BAR on C/Antoni Mari Ribas in Ibiza port whilst in the south, Boutique Hostal Salinas, our 11 room hotel tucked away beside the beach. Expect plenty of news through the summer on all of the above plus, of course, much news on our new weekly Lo Cura Lounge residency at We Love @Space!

A POOL. Yup, THEY'VE GOT A POOL!!!!! And if last summer's temperatures are anything to go by, we're all gonna need it.
Those of you familiar with the venue and its owners David Phillips, Duesi Wolfweir and Anita Dey should know that this long overdue addition in itself just screams for a celebration, and so, together with their steadfast team of troopers, the Hostal Salinas have chosen this Wednesday Mayday to celebrate the latest addition to their picturesque surroundings along with their old Spanish buddies, the Sonica boys, Miguel and Fernando, both of whom are celebrating birthdays into the bargain.
And of course, You Are Invited!

As you may or may not be aware, The Salinas Three are also the captains of another tight little ship, this time in Ibiza Town. Bar Lo Cura is a favourite watering spot that's been keeping us in fine spirits since 2004. "The Lo Cura Lounge" at Hostal Salinas was born last year in order to bring the two concepts- bar and hotel- just that little bit closer. Tucked safely under one wing, Ibiza's small but mighty LO CURA BAR on C/Antoni Mari Ribas in Ibiza port whilst in the south, BOUTIQUE HOSTAL SALINAS, the 11 room hotel tucked away beside the beach. Now, the two blend beautifully in an amalgamation of music and mirth, with Lo Cura Lounge tipped as the place to be, beside the seaside, beside the sea....
Expect plenty of news through the summer on all of the above plus, of course, much exciting news coming up on the new Lo Cura Lounge residency at We Love..Space, yet another idea from the lovely people at Boutique Hostal Salinas hand in hand with the We Love team of champs and champesses.

Day 3 of the island's Retro Weekender ROCK N MOLA and Boutique Hostal Salinas is the next, and final, stop on the map for this year's rockin' rollin' festival, which takes place in and around San Jordi 17-19 May. Ergo it was only natural that we here at Boutique Hostal Salinas should get involved with the annual vintage event.
Taking into account that it will be the morning after the night before, Rock n Mola's main event in the San Jordi Square on the Saturday night, and with no doubt a few hangovers in the house, we plan to whip those rockers and dollies straight back into shape with the help of a Really Bloody Mary for starters accompanied by a mighty meat feast from our Great Balls of Fire Barbecue.
Getting us twistin' by the pool, four of this weekend's Rock n Mola Music Makers: Twisted Ace, Stray Kitten, Selector No Roots and Daisy Heartbreaker push the boat out to close the festival in style. Expect real Rock n Roll, Bluegrass, Swing, Soul, Jazz, Surf, Garage, Country, Blues, Psychobilly, Neo and pure Rockabilly and no doubt, a few more surprises along the way.
This lot'll have you dancing in no time...
Later on, it's all about the lovers and we'll be screening a selection of 50s classics to get you all smoochy on the sofa with your sweetheart setting the tone nicely for our very special Slow Set. Yes, the Slow Set. Couples, lets see you cheek to cheek on our dimly lit dancefloor, Wallflowers, don't just stand there, it's your time to shine..
We predict a very lovely vintage Sunday indeed...
And then, as the clock strikes 12, it's back to the future as we hang up our headphones and wave bye bye to Rock n Mola for another year...

Get ready for the Lo Cura Lounge takeover of El Salon, a nine date residency at We Love that promises, quite simply, to present a line-up of island DJs, special guests, friends, fun and japes and a pretty interesting music policy over the course of the summer. As far as popular watering holes in Ibiza go, it's pretty fair to say that Bar Lo Curais way up there with the best of them, its success due not only to its prime location in Ibiza Port but also to its three pronged posse of partners David Phillips, Duesi Wolfmeir and Anita Dey, masters of their trades and also joint proprietors of Boutique Hostal Salinas, an idyllic 11 roomed getaway a minute from Ibiza's most famous beach.
Eight years after embarking on their adventure, both Boutique Hostal Salinas and Bar Lo Cura have earned a worthy name for themselves as two of the coolest little spots on the island, not only for their manners, music and mojitos but also for the steadfast crowd of hip hop happening islanders that frequent both places throughout the year.
The bar's name, Lo Cura, a very clever play on Spanish words, describes perfectly the ethos of the bar, slightly crazy on the one hand, just what the doctor ordered on the other. Expect to find that same fuzzy feeling at El Salon, from 9pm this Sunday 7[SUP]th[/SUP] June at We Love…with of course, a musical medley that sticks to Lo Cura's very bendy rules – if it's good, they'll play it, from Disco, Electro, West Coast, Tech House, Hip Hop, Soul, Rock n Roll, Golden Oldies or whatever else takes their fancy. (FIX IBIZA/2 July 2013): Boutique Hostal Salinas' name may already be a familiar one on the island, the 11 room hotel having gone from strength to strength over the last few years, but it's their restaurant that is really grabbing the spotlight this season. For those who haven't been down to the boutique hotel this year already, set in the Natural Reserve of Salinas, you are in for a very special treat. Not only does the place look great after recent renovations, the new A la Carte menu and wine list are simply superb.
The Menu
Taking the classic elements of the Mediterranean kitchen as its base, Boutique Hostal Salinas prides itself on producing its dishes using only the finest ingredients, sourced from local markets and suppliers. The result's surprising, distinctive flavours with no hidden additives or need for fancy garnishes. Pure simplicity yet with a twist on the classic- Tuna Tartar with seaweed and ginger, salt-baked fish using salt from nearby Salinas Mill, Fillet steak or Cod in a tomato and mint sauce; just some of the dishes on offer, and cooked, of course, to order.
Open from 2.30pm every day, the Restaurant Boutique Hostal Salinas, is open 7 days a week, and also provides the perfect location for a post-beach snack: from the green Gazpacho made with fresh melon and served with a tomato and mozzarella brochette to our signature salad with broad beans, Iberico ham and chef Daniel Gastaver's special touch of mint, giving it a fresh touch, perfect for these hot sunny days, as well as being a great digestive.

From 9am-12pm, our buffet style breakfast is the perfect start to a new day in Ibiza. Recharge your batteries with our healthy selection of fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, cereals, pastries and juices, served with tea and coffee.

His culinary career is nothing if not diverse, having worked as a pastry chef in the army, he went on to prepare dishes for dignitaries and international presidential convoys.
Having moved back to Spain, he took a different route, working at a number of 4 and 5 star hotels on the mainland as well as a stint in a Senior Residential Complex. From there, Ibiza called, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I'm not going to lie: as much as I love Las Salinas, I avoid it during the summer due to all the traffic... except, of course, for the occasional visit to the lovely boutique hostal of Anita, Duesi and David. Thankfully they have a parking area for their clients so it couldn't be easier to pop in for their 15€ menu del dia or just for a quick mojito around the new pool.
Something to look forward to this year is their new bi-weekly sunday market, which started last weekend. Not the usual market though... apart from exhibitors, expect street artists, performers and dj's accompanied by delicious cocktails and food.
Talking of which, today I ate at Boutique Hostal Salinas for the first time and well impressed I was. Especially with the cod baked in salt with a tomato and mint sauce which was unreal although everything else was delicious too: the foie gras sauteed in fresh orange juice, the green gazpacho with bruchette of tomato and mozzarella, the marinated iberian pork carpaccio, etc... oooh, and the lemon sorbet with dark rum and basil (simply the best sorbet I've ever had in my life). Well done to the chef Daniel Gastalver and his team... top-notch food!
Plenty of interesting events coming soon (including a photographic exposition by Phrank, whose beautiful pictures decorate the walls of BHS) so keep an eye to this thread. And by the way, if you're on the island right now remember that tomorrow Phat Phil Cooper will be behind the decks all afternoon with his Nu Northern Soul party... a good excuse not only to hear some quality music but also to meet the Spotlight team who will be there in force.
