Silvia Superstar, singer of the Spanish band Killer Barbies (which returns to the stages next month after a seven-year hiatus), is no stranger to Ibiza as every august she celebrates the anniversary of one of her bars in Madrid (El Fabuloso) at Pikes. Her Rock'n'Roll session before the first band of the night was great and she dj'd later at the invite-only afterparty too!
Âme's unreleased remix of Dan Croll's "From Nowhere" is one of the biggest tracks of the summer and has been played everywhere across the white island.
The Liverpool-based singer and songwriter was the before last artist of this summer's Ibiza Rocks. His first album Sweet Disarray was released in march showcasing his talent and fresh sound. Most songs from his debut were played, including "Wanna Know", "In/Out", the popular "From Nowhere" or "Home".
The show was excellent and now I'm hooked to his music!
The London four-piece Bombay Bicycle Club debuted in Ibiza in 2010 opening for Biffy Clyro and returned in 2011 as headliners.
For their third Ibiza Rocks gig, this time presenting this year's So Long, See You Tomorrow (which on the week of its release reached number one in the UK albums chart), the band came with two extra members: backing vocalist Liz Lawrence and keyboardist Louis Bhose. The indie rockers played a nice mixed set of old and new songs, including material from all their releases except the second one (the acoustic album Flaws - 2010). Songs like "Shuffle", "Lights Out, Words Gone", "Evening/Morning", "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep", "Feel", "Luna", "Always Like This" or the closing "Carry Me" drove the crowd wild!
As an aside, the line-up of the last ever Mallorca Rocks was completely different, with the local band The Prussians and the fantastic Reverend And The Makers, which hopefully will play again here soon...
Another incredible summer of live music under the stars has finished, a summer that left us with many momorable concerts (Swim Deep, Jake Bugg, Miles Kane and Kaiser Chiefs being my favourites). Oh well, only 37 weeks until it starts all over again... ticktock ticktock!
