bye-bye billboards in ibiza town ?!?

    "...
Tourism Councilman of the City of Ibiza, Ignacio Rodrigo, the PREF, yesterday warned owners of billboards installed in the municipality of Vila, the owners of the land on which they are located and advertisers who use that the City Council has decided to enforce the law and act decisively, after finding that no authorization has installed.

If true Rodrigo's warning, the Consistory remove virtually all existing billboards in the town, and who, according to the mayor, not found a single permit for one of these facilities in the archives of the City. The council convened a press conference yesterday in his office to present a report to the local police just received and which lists more than 150 billboards

  6. So does this mean that it has just been a free-for-all with clubs & promoters erecting billboards wherever they've seen fit?

I thought property owners sold advertising space on the side of their properties, such was the cost of billboard space. No?

the fact the owners were getting paid for having one of those horrible big things in their lands doesn't mean it's legal!

obviously the different councils, especially in these times of crisis, also want a piece of the cake...

There are more than 150 publicity hoardings in the borough and it has now been discovered that almost all of them are illegal and will need to come down; it is either the owner of the land or the entity being advertised which is lacking the necessary licence. The Town Hall emphasized that the measure is not a way to make money, as there are very few of them which meet the standards agreed in 2009 and ratified in 2010. Each case will be judged on its own merit and there may be financial sanctions levied on some of them. Records go back to 1980 but anyone with a licence prior to that time will probably be allowed to continue to advertise. At the moment it is just Ibiza Town which is forcing the issue, but Santa Eulalia announced it will soon follow suit, although San Antonio said it was not planning to make changes in the near future.

    Billboards in Sant Antoni ...
The PSOE-Pacte group in the city of San Antonio will present a motion to the House that the Corporation held on Friday, calling for the "withdrawal of all illegal billboards that are scattered throughout the rural land." ...

The PSOE-Pacte estimated that "there are at least a dozen illegal billboards on rural land in the town", although other estimates put this amount well above that estimate.

"The City Council has to act, locating all illegal billboards, and then to enforce their removal," said Marge

    ibiza town update:

    Hoardings
The Town Planning officer has begun disciplinary proceedings against the owners of one hundred and seventy three of the publicity hoardings which are erected in the borough, as they contravene both local and national laws. They are positioned in one hundred and four separate sites and Ibiza Town is the municipality with the greatest amount of this form of publicity on the Island.

    Crack Down
The Ibiza Town Hall has notified the proprietors of one hundred and eight-four publicity hoardings that they are illegal because they have not been granted the appropriate licences, which could result in a fine of up to 1,500€ for each hoarding. Most of them advertise discotheques, cars or tourist establishments, although there are a few others which publicize local businesses. The Local Police has been noting all the hoardings which do not comply with the law during the month of October and the Councillor in charge of Town Planning, Alejandro Marí, said that the aim of his department is to take down the illegal structures, but those which have the correct licences will be allowed to stay put.
The Santa Eulalia Town Hall said that it does not intend to carry out a similar operation as most of those in the borough are erected next to main roads which are the jurisdiction of the Consell and are therefore not its responsibility, but it will be checking to ascertain whether there are any which do come under its control.
As far as San Antonio is concerned, the Town Hall agreed in June that illegal hoardings should be dismantled, but so far there have more important affairs which have warranted its attention, but a spokesman reported that the matter is pending.
