Ibiza Rocks @ IBIZA ROCKS HOTEL 2014

THE KOOKS & JAKE BUGG

HUGE TALENTS BALEARIC BOUND TO PLAY LIVE UNDER
THE STARS IN THE INTIMATE SETTING OF THE ROCKS HOTELS
Known for nurturing the best new bands, Ibiza Rocks first booked The Kooks in 2005, unsigned and unknown. They returned as one of Britain’s biggest bands in 2009 and then made history as the first band to ever play Mallorca Rocks, opening the summer of live gigs under the stars in 2010. With consistent mass international appeal and a huge Spanish contingent, The Kooks are back with a new sound and new single ‘Down’ which just premiered as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World and went straight on the Radio 1 playlist. Baleaeric bound once more, this will be a returning highlight of the summer as The Kooks take to the famous open-air Rocks stage in September.

The Kooks said: ‘We're well excited to be dropping into the magic islands of Ibiza and Mallorca this summer - definitely rocks.’

Jake Bugg is another huge talent that came up through the ranks at Rocks. Having supported Ben Howard in 2012, Jake released his eponymous debut album later that year and a mass of praise, sales and award nominations followed. As a bonafide solo star, Jake returned in 2013 to headline the coveted Rocks opening party slot and is now back for peak season shows at Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks in July. With top billing at an array of summers biggest festivals and with his third album in the making, this will be a chance for fans to get up close to Jake Bugg in the much more intimate poolside setting of the Rocks Hotels for a sun-soaked preview of what’s to come from one of the UK’s biggest music stars in 2014.

Jake Bugg said: ‘Looking forward to playing Ibiza Rocks for the third year running. It's always a good crowd and a great atmosphere.’

Jake Bugg and The Kooks add to a scorching summer line up that also includes Haim, The 1975, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Bastille, Skrillex, Tinie Tempah, John Newman, Clean Bandit, Lily Allen, Madness, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wolf Alice, Breton, Chloe Howl, Ella Eyre, Dan Croll and Krept and Konan, with even more to come.

NAS TO CELEBRATE ILLMATIC ALBUM’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH
A SPECIAL HEADLINE SHOW UNDER THE BALEARIC STARS,
ONLY AT IBIZA ROCKS

Bringing the sounds of NYC live and direct to the Balearics this summer, genuine hip-hop legend Nas will make his Ibiza debut for a storming outdoor set live under the stars on the famous poolside stage at Ibiza Rocks on 9th July 2014.

Following his triumphant return to the stage at Coachella 2014 with guest appearances from fellow hip-hop icons Jay-Z and P Diddy, the Queens-raised rap superstar will head to the White Isle in July for an unmissable headline performance at Ibiza Rocks – a show that promises to be one of the highlights of the summer. Nas will perform his game-changing 1994 debut Illmatic in its entirety as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the seminal release.

Dubbed a poetic master by music fans and critics alike, this is a rare opportunity to see one of the world’s most respected hip-hop artists perform a musical masterpiece- that’s spawned a string of tribute albums - live and up close in a unique, intimate setting. Expect an unforgettable set jam-packed with rap classics including album highlights N.Y. State of Mind, The World Is Yours and Life’s a Bitch, to name just a few.

The headline show is part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Illmatic taking place this year, which also sees the record released as a special collectors’ edition, titled Illmatic XX, teamed with the launch of a feature-length documentary film, Time Is Illmatic.

Born Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones in 1973, Nas rose from humble beginnings in New York to become one of the most revered rap artists in the world. After getting his big break at the age of 17 with an appearance on Main Source’s 1991 track, Live at the Barbeque, Nas has since released eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums, and sold a whopping 25 million records worldwide, scooping 13 Grammy nominations and top five rankings on MTV’s 10 Greatest MCs of All Time list along the way. The artist’s most recent release, 2011’s Life Is Good, stormed to the number one spot on the Billboard Top 200, marking the 6th number one album Nas has had in his glittering career.

Shane Murray, Promoter, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Nas, a genuine hip-hop superstar, has joined our Ibiza Rocks schedule this summer, which is without doubt our best line-up to date. Having influenced so many of the acts that have taken to the Rocks stage, it’s fitting that Nas is now performing at last in what will be a truly special night.”

Nas adds to a scorching summer line-up that also includes HAIM, The 1975, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Jake Bugg, The Kooks, Bastille, Skrillex, Tinie Tempah, John Newman, Clean Bandit, Lily Allen, Madness, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wolf Alice, Breton, Chloe Howl, Ella Eyre, Dan Croll, and Krept and Konan, with even more to come.

JOIN THE BIGGEST EVER ROCKS SUMMER LINEUP

Rocks favourites Kaiser Chiefs are set to return to the Balearics this summer for another set of storming gigs under the stars, headlining the famous poolside stage at Mallorca Rocks (02/09) and Ibiza Rocks (03/09).

Ibiza Rocks first booked Kaiser Chiefs way back in 2005 for one of the first ever Ibiza Rocks gigs, when they were on the cusp of stardom before the explosion of their debut album, Employment.

With follow-up shows at Rocks in 2007 and 2012, the Leeds-based quintet are back and ready to hit the island stages once more, fresh off the back of the release of their fifth album, Education, Education, Education & War, which hit the coveted number one spot in the UK charts. Performing at both Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks in September, the shows are set to be the band’s most energetic and best yet with a set list jam-packed with smash hits and new material.

Rocks prides itself on nurturing the musical stars of the future as well as booking a hot line-up of established headline acts, and this year is no exception. New additions to this summer’s support slots includes solo talent Bipolar Sunshine, who will warm up the crowd before Lily Allen’s debut performance on 24th and 25th June, and Welsh indie rockers Catfish & The Bottlemen, who will hit the stage before Jake Bugg’s latest Rocks headline shows on 15th and 16th July.

Canadian singer Kiesza, who is currently riding high in the UK singles chart after hitting the number one spot with her debut single Hideaway, will support Rudimental on 29th and 30th July, plus headliners Bastille will be supported by blues solo performer Rag ‘N’ Bone Man on 5th and 6th August.

Kaiser Chiefs and the new support acts add to an already scorching summer line-up that also includes HAIM, The 1975, Nas, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Jake Bugg, The Kooks, Bastille, Skrillex, Tinie Tempah, John Newman, Clean Bandit, Lily Allen, Madness, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wolf Alice, Breton, Chloe Howl, Ella Eyre, Dan Croll, and Krept and Konan, with more to come.

In a brand new collaboration with Rock Nights, the official invite-only Ibiza Rocks afterparty will follow every Wednesday at Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes – the island’s legendary boutique hotel where Wham!s Club Tropicana video was filmed and Freddie Mercury famously celebrated his 41st birthday.

Held every Wednesday from 4th June to 17th September, Rock Nights at Ibiza Rocks House will see a host of international DJs including Silvia Superstar, f*** & Destroy, Jeff Automatic and Rock Nights resident Colin Peters hit the decks in both the main room, “Freddie’s”, and the smaller “Chez Fez” music space. Music aside, the Rock Nights parties will also offer guests karaoke sessions in Freddie’s famous ball-filled bathtub, snaps in the customised photobooth, fun in the album sleeve faces corner and a turn on the crazy piano, as well as a browse of the rails in the vintage clothing showrooms and the chance to get inked in Ibiza with the resident tattooist. Guests staying at Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes will automatically be on the guest list and other revellers can apply for guest list by contacting Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes.
